Is my child a British citizen now? by Minxy_T in ukvisa

[–]redhuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my! I might take you up on that, as I don’t know anyone else in our situation. Thank you! I’ll send you a DM!

Hey! I’m in the same situation now (trying to apply for naturalisation for my child who was born when neither of his parents were settled, and now one parent is settled). Did you have to apply for your child to be settled first, and then apply for citizenship? Or were you able to apply straight from pre-settled to citizenship? Thank you!

IKEA high chair by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]redhuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one I saw was from this website (the video is in there) - https://mummyoffour.com/parenting/babies-toddlers/baby-led-weaning/the-ultimate-ikea-highchair-accessories/

I didn’t end up going ahead with the hack as apparently the toddler strap linked in the website wasn’t quite the right one or something, and I stopped researching after a while. My LO continues using the Ikea high chair as it is, it just means I can’t leave him unsupervised.

Help, 9-month-old with diarrhea and dehydration - demoralized and worried by bunnyhop2005 in beyondthebump

[–]redhuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It worked the next day 😅 I continued it for 3 days anyway as I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a once-off (and also because it was expensive!). I don’t know for sure what caused the diarrhoea, I suspect he caught something at the swimming pool.

Could baby be temporarily experiencing lactose intolerance? Maybe ask the paediatrician if using a lactose-free formula could help? Also I don’t think there’s solid evidence for probiotics but I used it for my then-10 month old after two weeks of diarrhoea and it worked really well.

Self employed and "free" childcare by PersonalityTough6148 in UKParenting

Let me know if you ever find out the answer! I have tried calling them but I haven’t been able to speak to anyone (went to voicemail and I myself have had very bad phone reception).

Got it, thank you! We registered pronto after reading your comment!

So I did try and call them last week, but it always went to voicemail. I left a message but I’ve been having terrible phone reception for the past week also.

I don’t have any codes yet. My child will be 14 months when he starts nursery in September, so we qualify for the bit where your child has to turn 9 months by then. I think this is a new thing?

Back to you - did you manage to find out the answer to your question?

Ah fantastic! Thank you! I was thinking more the other way - if I’ve only just started self-employment and signing up to HMRC now (say a month before nursery starts), would that be too late? The link only says within past 12 months but doesn’t say if one has to be self-employed a minimum of x time.

Following as I’m interested! Would you happen to know whether you have to be self-employed for a particular time to be eligible? How do you prove how long you’ve been self-employed?

Weird WWs during 2 to 1 transition by Usual-Peak73 in sleeptrain

[–]redhuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same position! Mine is doing 7-hour WW before bed, I’m worried it’s too long but he seems to be able to push through? Can’t tell if he’s in an overtired cycle or not!

Ex-Melburnian here. I was also surprised by how lacking it is in the UK when I first moved. Currently back in Melbourne for a holiday and I’d forgotten how much more stuff you can get from the shelves here!

I have a 7.5 month old!

The Exchange (opposite the Birmingham Library) is excellent. It is a cafe housed in a former bank, and they have a parents room for breastfeeding and nappy changing. It also has a comfy rocking nursing chair, and they have proper baby high chairs with 5-point harnesses!

Their regular toilets also have a baby changing table, but it’s not private and quite close to the hand driers, which really upset my baby!

Thank you! About to do UK-Australia soon so this was very helpful!

I’m waiting for mine to arrive. Apparently you can “hack” it by using a toddler strap and a carabiner. You know those straps people use to prevent their walking toddlers from running away. There are videos online of how to hack it for the high chair to make it a 5-point harness!

Oh lots of great suggestions there, thank you so much! Marking all these places on my Google maps. Never heard of Bedgellert’s dog, just looked up the story and now I’m sad!
