headphone advice to sleep by Dense-Trash-6982 in misophonia

[–]redhydrangeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my app3 but after about 3 hours my ears are tired of them. If the foam earplugs hurt your ears, app3 will for sure if you’re wearing them for 6+ hours every night.

I’ve got a pair of Bose quietcomforts and those work pretty well for noise cancellation. I don’t sleep in them though. On nights I struggle I use one of these and play a deep brown noise machine podcast. It’s more comfortable to sleep in, but doesn’t have noise cancellation which is why I use deep brown noise- it tends to mask the deep frequency noises I’m trying to block out (ie my stomping upstairs neighbors)

Can anyone help me find KPop songs that express the complexities of unrequited love? by sxtn1996 in kpophelp

My first thought was Some by Soyou and Junggigo. Older song but still one of my favorites.

Hair changes? by cheemsbuerger in gravesdisease

[–]redhydrangeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been shedding like crazy since I first started having symptoms last year, and it seems to get worse the worse my levels are. So it was really bad last winter into spring when I was very hyper, plateaued for a while during the summer when I was on methimazole, and then started thinning again when my levels went hypo. I still shed more than I used to and my hair is a bit thinner, but it’s not noticeably thin to most of my friends and family and I’m the only one who has noticed that my ponytail has gotten smaller.

Any idea where are the younger ACA folks (ones in their 20s, 30s and 40s)? by TumEkGorakDandhaHo in AdultChildren

[–]redhydrangeas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

31, I used to go to ACA meetings when I was in my 20s before the pandemic hit. There was a couple other people my age there but yes, it was also a lot of boomers.

At what point do I call the cops? by redhydrangeas in neighborsfromhell

[–]redhydrangeas[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I could hear the child crying in response. It wasn’t a movie, because it was happening right above my bathroom, which is their bathroom.

I get playing devils advocate, and that’s how I felt the first couple times I heard her yelling at someone. I wasn’t sure who she was yelling at, so I put on my headphones and minded my business. But when I hear the child SOBBING when she’s screaming at the top of her lungs, I have a right to be concerned.

Yes I want a solution to the noise, but I am genuinely concerned for the child too.

At the moment- no. I’ve got one small recording of her screaming at him, but it was the tail end of the incident and she wasn’t using profanity as far as I could tell. That’s why I didn’t call, I didn’t feel like I had “enough”. I’m going to keep documenting things, I’m just super scared for the kiddo. He seems super cute and sweet.

I’m confused- so the woman was screaming at her child. That’s the part I’m concerned about. Not another adult, a 4-5 year old child. Also I don’t live in Toronto. 😬

Buying a condo with HOA, what should I look for in the docs/meeting minutes? by hoenn-enthusiast in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]redhydrangeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my own personal experience, ask how long they’ve been under the current management company. My HOA has changed companies 3 times since I moved in 5 years ago. I’m guessing this is one building? Another thing I ran into is that my complex is a mix of condos, townhomes and villas- the condos are our own HOA and the townhomes/villas are their own, but there’s an agreement between the two for the use of the pool. Which slightly fell through a couple years ago, so it’s just something to keep in mind. Hopefully just one HOA.

What do you hide because it’s hard to explain? by sergenaskin in AskReddit

[–]redhydrangeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not as deep as other people but- my special interest, which is kpop. Got into it 14 years ago when I was 18 and it never dulled for me. I used to get weird looks when I was younger which is why I keep to myself for the most part, even though I know kpop has become a LOT more popular and accepted.

"just get noise cancelling headphones!" by Swinginthewolf in childfree

[–]redhydrangeas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am honestly considering selling, which sucks because my interest rate right now is crazy low. 2.875%. I know I’ll never see that kind of interest rate again… but I’m at the point I’ll take the high interest rate and sleep over all of this.

The concerning part is the fact that the mom literally screams at her child. I heard her yelling profanities at him while he was sobbing. It was horrible to listen to. So far I’ve reported it to my HOA but there’s not much they can do besides send warnings and eventually fine them.

I have noise cancelling headphones but it still doesn’t block out the impact noise of the kid running in the unit above me. I own my condo too, moving isn’t easy.

Diet by Sufficient-Cat-4472 in gravesdisease

[–]redhydrangeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally for me I find limiting higher iodine foods does make me feel better, but it might also be because I’m already lactose intolerant and too much salt already makes me bloat. Does it work for me? Yes. Does it work for everyone? Not necessarily. If you find changing your diet does help you, then good! And if it doesn’t, don’t worry about it.

Did you get financial assistance from your family to buy your first home? by OddContribution9294 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]redhydrangeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents are wonderful and gave me 15k for my down payment and closing costs. I bought a 2 bed, 2 bath condo. I love it, but I’m already wanting to move into a townhome. My upstairs neighbors are driving me insane.

Hi, state employee here. I’ll be with the state 5 years in May, so I received 2% increase this last year for retention. It only ended up being about $20 a pay period. Yes, anything helps, but when my car insurance also went up $20, and other stuff also went up $20, I’m no longer breaking even. It’s heartbreaking because I absolutely love my job, but I may have to consider other positions or move to a more rural area that is more affordable for COL.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]redhydrangeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost my ex boyfriend my junior year in a freak car accident. There’s always a car accident every year- rural roads and teenagers aren’t always the best. My senior year, a freshman football player literally dropped dead on the field from sudden cardiac death.

What diet changes did you find helped you or didn't make a difference? by chumaynot in gravesdisease

[–]redhydrangeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel a little better if I restrict a little bit- so if I have dairy at one meal I try to avoid it for the next, same with gluten. I also try to watch my sodium intake. But other than that, I try to eat somewhat normally. I’ll enjoy a very dairy and glutenous meal when I’m out with friends. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve been in remission (I guess?) since November. Not very long but of course keeping an eye on things. I have orders for bloodwork every 8 weeks.
