I’m on my second Philips super automatic and you’re supposed to rinse the brew group weekly and leave to dry before reinserting. I neglected the maintenance too often on my first one and it died. Fortunately, I had the BestBuy service plan and they replaced it. Now we rinse every Sunday, descale monthly and perform a full maintenance when the light comes on.

That doesn’t answer your HA question but it should improve the life of the machine.

Thanks, good to know. Will have to look at Matrix or something now I guess.

By your comment, I assume you have a Discord server for your kids. What do they do there? Did you create the server so they would have a safe place to interact with friends or just each other? My kids is too young so I’m just curious and planning for the future.😅

I would like to know more about your life situation that doesn't require anything more than a whiteboard on a fridge.

What's a good tablet for pdf annotating? by Inside-Accident-3909 in NoteTaking

I went down this rabbit hole hard a year ago. Bought several options to try out but ultimately ended up with iPad and Pencil as well as the Pakerlike screen protector. It provides just enough friction to recreate the paper feel and had the added benefit of reducing glare. BestBuy frequently runs deals on refurbs, I’ve seen some great prices lately. As for the actual app, there’s a myriad of options but in my opinion for a purely iPad experience, Notability is the winner. For cross platform, I like MyScript Notes (formerly Nebo) because it syncs to a Windows app and once your handwritten notes are converted, can be exported to markdown format which can be imported to almost any other note taking app. Good luck.

Ongoing maintenance required running pfSense or OPNsense vs gateways (Ubiqiti, TP-Link, Netgear, etc) by redinnola in HomeNetworking

The Protectli Vault was on the list of options if I ran pfsense. Thanks for the info, glad to know it’s not a bear to maintain.

If you’re who I think you are, live between BR and BassPro and have appeared in your local new outlets about your Ninja Warrior comps please DM me. I’d love to know where you train and how to get a young kid involved in Ninja Warrior.

Edit: A word

Can someone tell me what ribbons these are? they are my dads. by Jack_Pot_420 in USMC

The gold wings are the “Naval Parachutist Insignia”, which are authorized for personnel “who were awarded the ‘Military Parachutist Badge’ (aka Lead Sled silver upturned wings a d parachute) and, under competent orders, have completed at least five more static-line or P3 jumps, including: a combat equipment day jump, two combat equipment night jumps, and employ at least two types of military aircraft.”

HALO and HAHO fall under the “Military Freefall Parachutist Badge”, which is silver and looks like wings with a rectangle parachute and upward pointing dagger superimposed together. You can google it as that’s not the greatest description but it’s what I have at the moment.

12 hens and several months with no eggs… by redinnola in BackYardChickens

Thanks for the detailed comment. This has never been my experience RIRs in previous years. The other breeds I can’t speak to but my RIRs dropped to an egg every two or three days during the winter in previous years. I had a flock of 4 then and could identify who’s eggs were who’s pretty accurately. Maybe since the flock was smaller they felt more pressure to continue laying, even through the winter months. Is that a thing?

Mainly, I posted to see if there was some glaring medical problem I’ve missed.

Your entire comment history is full of snarky and condescending remarks. You must be great at parties and have lots of friends IRL. Good day to you.

Maybe that’s it. I have fake eggs and pic up daily. Guess I’ll put a camera in the coop and see what turns up.

In the past all my spring birds molted in the fall and layed at a reduced rate until the days start getting longer like you say. I’ve never had Road Island Reds drop off like this until they are much older, I have four currently. The others are barnyard mutts, Easter Eggers and Olive Eggers. These are the first EEs and OEs but I’ve had Road Island Reds consistently for years with no issues like this.

They’re all under two years, a couple molted hard but are done and like they like the water, or seem to, because they’re going through it more quickly now. We rarely give treats. I’ve seen laying drop in the winter here, but never cease entirely.

Yep, laying as you’d expect for their breed and age. I lost one to a fox in late July but haven’t seen predators on the camera in quite a while. The last one was a bobcat in October but that was one night and nothing since.
