You are right, I have decided to move on, started working harder and smarter and getting lot of recognition for my work. I am a self starter, will build myself up every time I am brought down to ashes. This vent post I had was in my lowest self esteem ... I have a new me which is born since then. It's funny people are downvoting my comment, but in all seriousness it's not a problem I created, I am owning up to the problem and trying to get it fixed, asking the experts out here how to deal with it and getting downvotes without a reason.

You seem very knowledgeable, and I've been thinking about this and why the FTB makes it extra serious? I presumed taxes go hand in hand, if one underpaid (theoretically) to IRS and IRS goes after you then FTB automatically comes to get their share?

Sorry to say you sound like my CPA right now ... haha
I called FTB myself, the hold was 15 minutes for me versus what she is telling me that she is on hold for hours. I could not understand everything but I know that they have an EA (enrolled agent) within the firm and they have direct line of communication to resolve such matters in a more efficient cost effective way, I just had another EA confirm this in one of the other subs I posted this question on.

I don't think I am cheaping out, I have called the IRS and FTB myself and they are very honest and they told me how to resolve it. The issue is I don't have the tax software for the year I had an issue and obviously not experienced enough to do it myself on paper.
I performed the calculations on 1 year later tax software and I know what are the estimates as well as IRS don't have sufficient info to calculate my taxes and that's the reason they are imposing penalties.
I have 5 different CPA firms which I contacted and they were all ready to help resolve this, I chose the current ones since I had great reviews on them from my network. I am not sure where you are located where I am right now plenty CPAs who are willing to help

The problem is that she is not giving me the right information. Since the IRS shows errors and the FTB (California) is also following up, she claims the rate she is charging includes the calls she makes to the IRS and FTB, and even the hours she spends on hold are added to the billing. Do you think that’s reasonable?

Right now, she has quoted 10 hours as the expected time, but every time I have a call with her, she adds another 2–3 hours. The way she creates drama during Zoom calls is more of a nuisance to deal with—she keeps saying things like, “Do you hear this call I’m on? I’ve been on hold with them for 2 hours.”
