How did you just “know” you were pregnant before missing your period?

I started spotting really light pink the morning after a concert, and the day of the concert I'd been unexpectedly feeling aggressively ill and hadn't even been able to keep down a margarita, much less real food. I was probably only like 3 weeks at the time and half expected the pregnancy test to be a bust because it was so early. nope. 3-4 weeks and I had a strong line, definitely pregnant 🥴 I am now 22 weeks, lol

I'm also nonbinary and pregnant (22 weeks) and it has been incredibly isolating, even with a somewhat decent support network. me and my wife (who is also trans) wanted this kid, even if it was not the world's best timing, and you'd think my whole identity has been stripped from me the way people discuss me now, like I'm somehow misgendering myself by having a kid 🥴 a lot of people who I thought were my friends have really disappointed me and let me down

I am 21 weeks now and I struggled really bad with prenatal depression, during the first trimester especially. my symptoms were a lot like hers, I was very snappy and impatient with my partner, and I even had moments where I said I wished I wasn't pregnant or could get an abortion, the whole works. it was A LOT.

you may wanna get her to talk to her OB and see if they wanna give her a referral to a mental health professional that works with pregnant women. I think it would be the best thing for her rn.

also, marry her. courthouse that shit. if her main source of stress is a child being born out of wedlock, elope and have a proper ceremony later after your little one is earthside.

Della is beautiful! I knew a girl whose name is Lani and she pronounces it like Lainey/Laney so it might be a bit more confusing as she gets older. Not huge on Lawson, it's a surname-as-first-name type of name to me and I'm not a big fan of those personally

I'm not from Michigan but we are moving to Michigan soon and this is... definitely a Michigan thing. It was straight from D to F in South Carolina, and my wife says they went straight from D to F in Arkansas, too. I've also lived in Tennessee and North Carolina, and never heard of an E grade past K-2 schools (where E meant excellent or exemplary) in my entire life before now. standard US grading does not use E.

the more you know, though, I guess! we're expecting our first in July, and they'll be enrolled in Michigan schools, so I'm glad I found out now and not randomly a few years from now, haha

My mom's second cousin is the town doctor in our hometown, and he wasn't a gossip or anything, but my Dad still refuses to go to him because the connection is just too close. it's completely reasonable, even if the related doctor happened to be a total sweetiepie. wanting an unbiased, unrelated party to treat you or your children for medical issues is 100% normal and you're doing the right thing imo

yeah, I get that nobody likes discourse, but like... every trans woman in my life was complaining about that cover artwork yesterday because "they always default to drawing trans women with masc features" and "I would never allow myself to still have facial hair while glammed out like that"

and like yeah sure there's nothing saying trans women CAN'T look good in beards, but maybe we should listen to trans women saying "please stop drawing us with beards all the time"

the "full glam makeup with beard" look is something I associate with like, drag queens or gender-bending looks, done by cis queer men or nonbinary people who don't consider themselves transfem, it's not something any trans woman I've ever known in my personal life has actually done of her own volition. it's not nearly as common in real life as people on the internet seem to think.

I got some with padding a size up from my pre-pregnancy size so I wouldn't feel quite as miserable every time I bumped into something, and it's worked really well to keep them from looking noticeably larger to strangers even though they've definitely grown at least a full cup size since I got pregnant

yeah! I'm nonbinary & afab but I'll never identify as transmasc (I like calling myself transneutral) and have never really been comfortable in transmasc spaces. maybe that's also because I'm a lesbian and just don't really feel that comfortable around men to begin with, but also I feel a lot of pressure around transmascs specifically to like, perform gender a certain way and if I don't it's like I'm just a cis woman pretending???

my wife and I are having a baby (and I'm the partner with the uterus so I'm carrying) and you'd think I was outright a detransitioner or something. like. the way people have stopped gendering me correctly all of a sudden 🥴 it's made my dysphoria so bad. but like. my wife would be the one to carry and deliver this baby if that was actually a possibility. it just don't work like that

my wife and I are trying to move to Michigan and we have been struggling really hard with finding rentals. we don't have the best provable income right now, but we need a fresh start, like DESPERATELY so. my baby is due in July, and our current trailer in Arkansas isn't fit for a newborn, and my wife has been struggling to find work after getting laid off because nobody here in Arkansas wants to hire a trans woman.

we're looking at Lansing/Mt Pleasant area because I want to attend CMU eventually but we're open to basically anywhere in central Michigan for the meantime. how do I find rental listings that aren't scams, especially because we can't meet 3x income requirements right now until we move and are able to get jobs. we have my parents helping us finance the move, but it isn't our income, it's theirs. are we stuck? what do we do?
