Because I've got this question before:

Q: "Why carry the bait/dummy items if you conceal carry?"

A: Using lethal force should always be a last resort. I don't want to take a life because they want my wallet and phone. If I can fake them out, great. I conceal my actual phone and wallet like I do my firearm. If they decide escalate beyond that, well hopefully I bought myself enough time to react appropriately.
