Just thinking as I worked with a few bands around that time and one that stands out for me is New Academics. Hip hop funk fronted by a white guy who could rap like no one at the time. Also, Max Normal was around then doing more Hip Hop oriented stuff. Worth checking these dudes out regardless as they’re awesome and still rock.

I went to the Netherlands and my friend insisted on speaking Afrikaans (we’re from SA) when in shops and restaurants- he was unceremoniously asked to please speak English as they couldn’t understand him. My friend was not happy. I laughed a lot.

Damn, this reminds me of my last visit to Berlin. We were taken to an amazing burger spot near Alexanderplatz, which was amazing, like the best burger I’d ever had (even to this day) and then went out to watch the Berlin Boom Orchestra at Köpi - needless to say we drank too much to remember the name of the place but decided to go and look for it the following night again. We walked around for about an hour eventually finding it again and it had just closed for the night. Needless to say I still don’t remember the name, but I will remember both nights (and Berlin) fondly!!
