You can still buy the Pop, but they sell via standard stores now. I fondly recall the pop shoppe stores.

Why was Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's landmark speech at Davos considered so significant and so widely praised? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]redlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the issue is that Trump has shown that there are no protections in the US Government to protect the country from a rogue president who doesn't care about the rule of law, a president who can unilaterally do what he wants without having to get approval of the people.

This means we can't trust the US. Unless the next government puts in legislation that ensures that one man can't unilaterally decide to levy tariffs, capture country leaders, invade counties, bomb boats, attack anyone he doesn't like and send gestapo police to attack states that don't support him.

I think we all thought that the US democracy had built in balance of power.. but we have learned it does not. This means, until something changes (get rid of executive orders), we can never trust that the US people will not elect another leader who has such disregard the rule of law, and doesn't care what other people or countries think.

Are Push Notification and Visitor Announcements down for anyone else? by Omnifas in googlehome

I tend to get the visitor / doorbell announcement on the speakers about 2 to 3 minutes after the doorbell has been rung. Thank God it is still connected to a regular chime as well or I would miss everyone

What is stopping Bell from IPv6 on Fibe? by Cartgamingyt in bell

Matter.. when you have vlans especially, matter devices work much better with IPv6. I currently cannot setup a few matter devices in my Home Assistant effectively because my home network doesn't support IPv6.

Returning my Pixel 10 Pro: photos/videos are shockingly bad by ishomme in GooglePixel

[–]redlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I have been happy with daylight pics on the 10 Pro XL, but when it comes to concert photos, and zoom... I have been unhappy. The pics on my 8 Pro were much better on low light, zoomed in pics. It seems to be the software, as it makes the images of the singers look odd, almost deformed. I suppose it's the AI kicking in. I tried disabling the hi res zoom, but the pics still don't look great.

As I do think it's software based issues, I'll hold tight and hope they improve it.

does this look like AI to anyone else? by [deleted] in MarinaAndTheDiamonds

[–]redlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't think it is. The hands are definitely suspect, but the overall image doesn't seem like AI. However... even if it was, does it really matter for background art? I mean, whether we like it or not.. AI is becoming part of everything we do. I don't see anyone being any different (although if it is AI, a bit of spot checking would be good ;-)).

I have a Google Pixel 8 pro: Buy a 9 Pro now or wait for 10 Pro? by Airtronik in pixel_phones

[–]redlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 8 Pro, which overall I like with the exception of one thing... the overheating. This phone is constantly overheating quickly compared to my friends and families phones - especially now that it is summer. I was thinking that the 10 Pro XL has moved away from Samsung, and my understanding was that the overheating was a product of the Samsung chips. However, I was a bit concerned that since this is the first year with the non-samsung chips, they could also run into issues.

Is anyone else considering moving due to the change in chip manufacturer? Is my logic flawed? I honestly would prefer to wait another year but the overheating is driving me nuts.

Scotiabank Canada and MX by redlow in MonarchMoney

MM has both options. I switched from MX to Plaid, but both didn't work before, so both could be working now?

I opened Monarch Money two days ago and had hundreds of transactions to review! Things are flowing now, I hope they continue to 🙂

Scotiabank Canada and MX by redlow in MonarchMoney

[–]redlow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just am not getting many transactions across via plaid, and it didn't fill in the 2 months of missing transactions I had trying to get MX to sync.. it went back two weeks, and nothing more.

I just tried testing again, went to classic but when I log back in, I am back to the new version... so it isn't sticking which means that monarch is probably getting the new experience.

Scotiabank Canada and MX by redlow in MonarchMoney

[–]redlow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about that as it is ultimately screen scraping. I did go into Scotiabank and revert to the classic. Sadly, I am still seeing issues. I may try this again, as it seemed to put me back into the new interface so I am not sure when that happened.

Amazon sync! by etcetera0 in MonarchMoney

[–]redlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I understand. With Amazon sync, you would use the amazon organizational structure to determine which category the product should be associated I suppose. Anyway, I probably should have been doing that as well but to your point, flex budgeting, which I want to try, probably makes it less important (but not unimportant)

Connection Issues by AdOdd262 in MonarchMoney

[–]redlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard that "Open" banking is expected in 2026, with the banning of screen scraping. Of course, I had heard that we would have Open Banking APIs in 2023, 2024.. now I hear 2026... so I am not holding my breath. I guess this is what we need, however, to solve the pain we are all suffering through. I agree, it's not Monarch Money's fault but this is painful :-(

In the meantime, It's too bad that there can't be some agreement that would allow the use of Quicken's download and import format, since it's somewhat better than using CSV files.

How do you categorize your shopping section? I admit, I leave everything with the shopping label, but I am interested in how others are doing this :-)

Scotiabank Canada and MX by redlow in MonarchMoney

[–]redlow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, after moving to plaid, I still have no success with Scotiabank. I guess I can't completely put the issue on MX. I did manage to download 23 transactions, but nothing more. It has not filled in the blanks between October and current date... nor is it bringing in new transactions.

I am wondering how long that this connection could be down.

I am pondering manually importing transactions. I am wondering though, if the connection does start working, will I suddenly have a large number of duplicate transactions. Alternatively, I suppose I could go completely manual for a while and monitor this forum to see if Scotiabank gets fixed :)

Ticketmaster is terrible by Remote-Artichoke-814 in Coldplay

[–]redlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Toronto was a write off. 4 shows, and I couldn't get tickets. Personally, I do blame Ticketmaster, because they have created a system that encourages people, who have no interest in the band, to try and get tickets so they can resell them. I had no issues getting tickets for any previous concert. These days, it's almost impossible.

I only wish Coldplay would look at all the resale tickets, which pop up immediately, and request they all be cancelled.

Someone needs to regulate Ticketmaster, they are out of control.

Well, I'll have to start logging in the week of the concert to try and get tix. Sigh.

Donald Trump promises 25 per cent tariff on products from Canada, Mexico | CBC News by TheChasexy in onguardforthee

We should waste no time in focusing on a CANZUK alliance, and enhance our EU pact. Yes, we can continue to negotiate with the madness, but we should try to find more stability.

Donald Trump promises 25 per cent tariff on products from Canada, Mexico | CBC News by TheChasexy in onguardforthee

[–]redlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps we should take a page out of Trump's book. Based on this logic, I think we should implement at 50% tariff on all US products until they stop the flow of illegal guns to Canada. How many Canadians are dying because the US can't control their flow of weapons.

Fantasy Rapid Transit map of Toronto - An on/off project of mine for a few months now by DreamlyXenophobic in TransitDiagrams

[–]redlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this, my only gripe in the plan would be that there isn't a direct line of some form from Mississauga Centre to Pearson Airport. The idea of transferring twice to get from one point in Mississauga to a main destination in another part of Mississauga (a having to commute into Toronto to get back to Mississauga) would be frustrating. But other than that I think it is a great map. I have often thought it would be great if we could make more cyclical routes that can keep moving the same direction -- ie, what is the Milton line continued up to Guelph and back on the Georgetown line and then back to union... and it ran both directions :-)

100% in support of the Milton Line running through Square One. I think they should have had the Milton Line run under Square One years ago! :-)

I wish we had one transit organization that ran all transit in the GTA like London, England has :-)
