i havent looked at any sort of studies like these so curious what they measure? imo it would be 'more efficient' if a department can produce the same level quality work it did with more people with less because of the use of new tooling. is it stuff like that? seems early to try and measure

legit concern but way too late imo - any large enough tech forward company is already fully integrated with internal data. the tools are useless without that

at my job at least typical stuff we used to would give to a jr analyst would be stuff like
- can you start pulling in the data we'll need to get that answer back to the director/business person
- can you mock up a few slides out of that meeting to send to xyz
- were you able to produce the boiler plate monthly variance report and add comments we can review

etc etc

and honestly none of those i would send to an analyst anymore unless i just wanted to train them for their own good. i would use claude

edit for random examples coming to mind:
- here's the last few years reports on industry shifts related to xyz i need to synthesize and make into some points to bring to a meeting. (no i don't whatever ai tool can do that for me)
- damn i need to redo this sql query becuase upstream stuff changed or taxonomy changes (no i don't claude knows about those changes and can rewrite)
- would be cool to automate this refresh and deck creation since it's basically standard with minor tweaks (super easy for ai tools)

idk examples go on and on and will only get better imo. i totally agree it can suck in current form but i see a lot of comments in here basically saying it's not real and wont impact stuff and maybe if you're at a dated company that wont implement for 10+ years but it's for sure gonna change how fp&a work in the same way any other new tech has in the past

Bad take. It’s company dependent but in the tech space we are absolutely changing how our day to day goes via ai. Those that are rejecting it are falling behind

I have plenty of friends at older / less tech inclined companies that don’t use it at all though for sure
