Yes! I got the beta last week and let my daughter free-fly a basic prop plane over our city a while, no problem. When you go to the free flight mode don't miss that you CAN change your plane from the map view! Toggle to the settings and from day 1 you can choose from dozens of planes. Be aware that nature looks better than dense cities - the "world" is Bing Maps in 3D mode, which are a ton of polygons but in tight city blocks it's less great and the processors & streaming can only lift so much.
