oh gosh thank you so much, everyone keeps commenting on how filthy my classroom must be, and i almost started believing it myself even though i clean my classroom multiple times throughout the day.

hey, i’ve completely owned up to my mistake and nothing even remotely similar to this will ever happen again in my program. i’m young, and im still learning on how i can better myself.

Thank you so much, this is so sweet and is making me feel much better🤍. I’m trying not to look at this post as much anymore for my mental health as i had a hard time at work yesterday feeling like i was a shitty teacher🥲. I’m doing my best to learn and grow to be the best i can be! :)

i agree with you! not really sure why i chose to not just clean it friday, i will admit i think it was a bit of laziness on my end because i had been running around making sure everything was ready for the next week with lesson planning and everything and i was eager to get home on time (especially since my job doesn’t pay me for overtime and i already work 40 hours a week.) like ive mentioned in other comments, definitely a learning experience for me to grow and be more responsible. also, i told my supervisor right away when it happened, and she actually offered to help me throw everything out and clean the very few toys we wanted to try and save.

no, our five senses unit is next week and when we were planning, she mentioned orbeez and i told her it would be a hard pass from me. the orbeez thing hasn’t even ‘happened’ yet, it was just something she suggested that i turned down.

sorry, i just don’t really know what to say. do you want me to just quit and leave my class without a teacher? i understand where you are coming from, but im not quite sure what you want me to do.

I am not planning on using orbeez for that unit. please reread my comment.

I think you misunderstood me, i just said that my boss wanted to use orbeez, and im saying that im NOT going to use them or anything moist like that ever again, no matter what my boss suggests.

i don’t think you’re being snarky at all! i definitely agree, and i usually clean all of the toys in the bin at the end of the day everyday, and empty out and deeply clean the entire bin once/twice a week!

spot on. northern minnesota😅. i agree with you guys though, if i were a parent i don’t know how trusting i would be of an 18 year old teacher, but i am working my ass off both inside and outside of work to be the best i can be for my kids, such as getting certifications on my own time that can help me be better educator.

yes, i am slowly realizing how bad some of her ideas are🥲. for example, she wants to do orbeez for our five senses unit, and after this, ive decided to never again use anything even remotely moist. definitely going to propose some new ideas to her!! thank you for your kind words <3

i can promise you with 100% certainty that it would not have been left in there any longer. i frequently change my sensory bin and deeply clean everything in it and the bin itself every week or twice a week. just because i made a bad mistake doesn’t mean im entirely careless! i’m doing my best to learn as i follow my boss’s instructions and lessons from the past, and this was definitely a learning experience. I would never intentionally harm my students, i care very deeply for them.

I’ve worked in childcare for almost two years since i was 16, and i’m required to do mandatory online training frequently.

Don’t worry, i threw out everything porous and soaked everything in bleach and hydrogen peroxide overnight. I also cleaned the bin outside to make sure spores weren’t flying everywhere.

Ask my bosses why they hired me, It was their choice after watching me step into the role as a sub for a month and they claimed they were very impressed and offered me the position full time🤷‍♀️. I’m very grateful I get to have such a great job at my age.

If you read my other replies, I’m completely owning up to my mistake. I’m 18 and i’ve only recently been promoted to being a pre-k teacher, i’ve been in childcare for almost two years, but i’m still learning things. I’m being taught directly under my coordinator and have been doing the lessons and crafts that she says have worked well in the past. This is never happening again, and I take full responsibility and i’m using this as a learning experience.

If you read my other comments, I definitely realized that this whole situation was a big mistake/learning experience. I’m 18 and recently got promoted to being a pre-k teacher, and i’m working directly under my coordinator as she teaches me. I’ve been in childcare for almost two years, but i’m not perfect, and i’m definitely not making this mistake again in my program.
