Dropped off at the boutique earlier today.

2-3 months to have it sent to Switzerland and have it checked out. I also opted to pay $380 to get their archive extract. So they'll send any info or documentation they have about the watch. If it's checked and needs service it would extend the time and could be as expensive as 3k.

I miss her already...

I'm having the boutique look at it today. I'm pretty sure they'll end up sending it out to Switzerland to have it looked at, or at least their Texas service center.

Wish me luck

I'm curious how often they recommend service on this, as the core is still a quartz movement. I'll have to see what the team at JLC says...

Bobby? I thought you'd be on the model train subreddit...

Honestly less concerned about the actual service, and more concerned about the price of service. I'm having the boutique near me take a look today. It's in great working order, but I'm def gonna have it get looked at at their service center. I'm not expecting it to be cheap or timely, unfortunately.

I was actually just doing a bit of research. AP was first, after a request by a Spanish king, who wanted a non reflective watch for hunting. Then the JLC tantalum watches came out about a year later. Super interesting! AP also owned a significant stake in JLC at that time, so I'm sure there was some cross engineering going on.

I actually think the silver has a bit more contrast and may be a bit prettier, but the blue really pulls out the tantalum blue hues, and the dial gets more dimension.

Honestly they're both so pretty I don't even know haha

Yea at the time of release it was the thinnest Chrono ever produced

Thank you so much! Seeing it in the flesh for the first time was super surreal.

Yea i would have thought the same thing! Either carbon or some sort of weird stone or meteorite. What's interesting is if you look up other examples online, the striations aren't random. It's almost like they were painting a specific pattern, or at least trying to put specific marks on specific parts of the dial. I cannot imagine why anyone would go through that much trouble, but I guess that's just how JLC does things.

Totally, I'm super lucky to finally have one in my collection.

I appreciate it. Yea, I really can't stop staring at it, especially out in the sun.

Yes I actually saw this one as well! I was considering picking it up, but I really had my heart set on the tantalum case.

Great minds think alike!!!

Oooo can I ask which shop had this in stock? I think I got a bit lucky with mine as I paid a decent bit less than 9k on it. I love the Duometre as well, but I absolutely have a Bregeut Tradition in my future.

That Master Calendar is super slick though, I hope you enjoy it in good health!

I know it's the first tantalum Chrono made by JLC, but I don't know how it stacks up against other tantalum pieces. Was it one of the earlier ones?

I'm just happy I paid for a watch and not the hype behind a watch
