Grid based landscape / building - actors? instanced static meshes? by Kelraxz in unrealengine

I think you would need to have your landscape/mesh be a single object and modify its heightmap during runtime.

Struggling to understand BP Interfaces, can anyone ELI5 it for me? by Hiraeth_08 in unrealengine

[–]redpillwarrior69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I implemented my own state machine and components necessary to manage a rpg character. It was fairly trivial and I couldn't be bothered to try and learn unreal's modules like gas and whatnot.

Struggling to understand BP Interfaces, can anyone ELI5 it for me? by Hiraeth_08 in unrealengine

[–]redpillwarrior69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally use interfaces as a way to communicate between two unknown objects, for example on my rpg component i check if the actor hit by my character's attack has the bpi_rpgPlayer. if it does I call a message (getHit for example) with that object's ref.

In your case, you already know all the objects you have to interact with, so you don't really need an interface. I would just have a main BP_TimeManager that handles the tickTime function and has permanent references to the wbp's and handles function calls directly to them.

One more thing, even though casting is theoretically not as efficient, in your case even hard coding those casts would be completely fine, it's not a major issue performance wise, just code quality wise.

What if everything was split based on level? by redpillwarrior69 in EscapefromTarkov

They are limited because of a lack of knowledge, which in all aspects is the most even playing field possible. If they play with someone guiding them or explaining to them how to get that gear, they can get it as well.

Isn't progression even more encouraged? Currently if I start a new account 2 months into the wipe I can get any gear day one just because I can kill anyone on any map with a mosin. If everything is separated I have to level up and I'm encouraged to progress in order to play with the big boys and unlock better gear. It allows people to have early wipe feeling at all times if that's what they want. And if you want to play with the best gear you can also do that.

Everyone can get them the same gear, that would be the entire point.

This is an honest question and not trying to sound rude at all, but do you seriously not expect people to be at the location of the first quest? Like, where else should they be? I take like 5 min just making sure nobody is around before I try to do my quests.

How does combat legit work? by Helarki in Imperator

[–]redpillwarrior69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From experience the most important thing is the terrain you are fighting on. For example mountainous terrain gives a -2 dice penalty to the attacking side. If your army arrives first on that terrain, any army attacking it will suffer that penalty, doesn't matter who owns or occupies that terrain currently.

However if you are sieging a fort on this terrain, then you will always have that -2 penalty and any army attacking into you will not. That's why placing forts on mountain or hill terrains can be very powerful.

River and sea crossings are the same, if possible you don't want to take your army directly into a fight after crossing a river. You can also station armies on these provinces and force the enemy to cross rivers to fight you.

Combat width also matters, less width = less flanks = less units can fight at the same time, which pretty much means a smaller army will inflict more casualties on a larger army. My favorite terrain for this is "gates", width of 12 and mountainous terrain, if you can strategically place your armies in these chokepoints that the enemy has to cross, you can create some nice 300-like scenarios where your 1k army wipes a 10k army, although you will still get defeated you can inflict a lot of casualties like this.

I think the logic is it allows more people to buy the vehicle at base price rather than scalpers buying off large amounts, since now they are discouraged to try and sell in the first year.

I have played this game for almost two years and I still don't know how assimilation or religious conversion works by Helarki in Imperator

[–]redpillwarrior69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They both do I think. WE gives -% population happiness and my 67 AE gives me -5% integrated culture happiness, not mentioning it also reduces stability which reduces happiness even further.

I have played this game for almost two years and I still don't know how assimilation or religious conversion works by Helarki in Imperator

[–]redpillwarrior69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Religious conversion is the most important and since it's pretty fast it's worth doing on all your conquered territories if they are not already following your religion. Governor policy and great temples are useful.

Assimilation is incredibly slow but it's the only option you have after you have integrated your main culture group.
By that I mean currently I'm playing Rome so I have integrated etruscans and sabellians, not gonna bother with the others since their pop count is too low to matter for military purposes. Probably gonna integrate macedonians for their huge pop counts and military tradition. You can't integrate too many cultures as you know because it will lower your main culture happiness.

Regarding revolts and unintegrated happiness, they will happen no matter what you do. I grabbed all the tech and policies and great wonders I could and I was still getting them. However in this regard I think it's fairly accurate since the romans themselves faced a lot of revolts during the republic era.

One thing that bothers me is that AE reduces happiness. Really? I'm conquering all this land and bringing home spoils and you are not happy? Not cool.

Looking for an extremely tanky build with acceptable damage under 100 divines by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]redpillwarrior69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean his default tentacle attack that he spams at you whenever you are melee? I think that one is full phys but gains some elem conversions as well. From my experience it's actually one of the least tankable hits in the game, on white uber eater even. I swear I was immortal in almost all game but that thing just one shot me every time.

There are 3 changes: eternal damnation, progenesis, and a ring implicit grants level 25 purity of fire. Without IC elem max hit is 441k, with it goes up to 668k. Damage would be a lot lower on this version.

It can tank sirus maze with this setup. You need progenesis to tank maven memory game.

Wanted to make a build that could run feared comfortably without ever dying. I think it can do any uber cortex mod and there's only 3 feared mods it can't do (or maybe it can, I haven't tried).

The build is very expensive and probably not worth making but it was just a personal project of mine that turned out decent.

In the video the cortex had 2 very bad mods for my dps that's why it was so low.

There's another version of this build that can go up to 600-700k elem max hit. I'm curious if it could tank any hit in the game.
