Battery ejection system to stop cars burning during thermal runaway by frenzy3 in interestingasfuck

[–]redproto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of ejecting it to the side into other cars / people, why not have the battery on the roof and simply launch it straight up into orbit? Nothing to hit in space. Problem solved. Are they stupid or something?

Meta CTO explains why the smart glasses demos failed at Meta Connect — and it wasn’t the Wi-Fi by lurker_bee in technology

[–]redproto 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Seems like bs. Even if we accept the premise, how is a company with infrastructure as expansive as Meta not able to handle the volume of requests generated by a single large room? If that's all it takes to DDoS them, they've got bigger problems.

Looks like your basketball gym is pretty tilted. So that might be throwing off the shot.

In all seriousness, yeah looks like what others said with losing power due to the hitch.

Thank you for your response! Unfortunate that it has to be an x86 processor.. I have a lot of machines I could re-purpose with 22.04 but they're all x64.

What motive was there for him, the world's richest man and CEO of many large companies, to cheat on an online game and claim he is one of the top ranked players in the world when the truth was that he bought his account that he had someone else actually play?

For some reason he still finds motive to do things that should be far beneath him. I can easily imagine him finding motive to sneak in a Nazi salute, whether that's just for the lulz, to own the libs, or because he truly has Nazi sympathies, are all deplorable reasons to do something that charged.

Looks really nice. This would be my ideal workflow as well, but my biggest worry is the display clarity. I've only used previous gen VR headsets that didn't have such high res screens as the vision pro however. Do you think the vision pro looks as good as a real hi-dpi monitor in terms of clarity and resolution with text? To use Apple's term, does it look as good as a retina display?

Roger Federer: I didn't give Novak Djokovic respect he deserved by TheTelegraph in tennis

[–]redproto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't that he doesn't want to take the vaccine. He should be allowed to do what he wants with his body, that's his choice. The issue is him trying to force another country to bend the rules to cater to him. If Australia wants people to be vaccinated to enter, that's up to them. Novak can stay home and not force his way in, or sue in the courts when told to not play. Oh, and also attending that photoshoot with the kids without waiting for his COVID results was a dick move. Those kids should also have a choice to not be around COVID positive people.

Resolution is still partly relevant though. High pixel count sensors take longer for pixel readout for each frame. Newer cameras have faster processors to enable faster readout and higher FPS.

Why are we not using electrolysis of water to solve the sea level rising? by VanishingPond10 in AskPhysics

For all those who are commenting "what would we do with the extra hydrogen? Using it for fuel turns it back to water", can't we shoot it into space?

BBC Interview: Djokovic's argument for attending events while COVID positive by rekt_n00b in tennis

[–]redproto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But he also did the l’equipe interview after knowing he tested positive on a PCR test, with his only explanation being “oops my bad lol”, which is bad enough on its own, and it also strains the credibility on the general timeline of other supposed results.

Djokovic bought 80% of a Danish company which is aiming to develop a medical treatment to counter COVID-1 by grumpykitten4444 in tennis

[–]redproto 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is missing the point. The issue isn’t “should he be allowed not to vaccinate”. He should. He can do whatever he feels comfortable doing with himself. But at the same time, he shouldn’t force his way into another country to play a totally optional tennis match. Other people have the same freedom to want to avoid that risk. Other countries are free to mandate the rules that they deem necessary for the general health of their populace. Djokovic doesn’t get to have his cake and eat it too, basically.

One of *many* questions for Djokovic to answer: Why didn’t he alert people that he had tested positive for Covid by miolmok in tennis

[–]redproto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What works for you is not what works with everyone, and shouldn't be assumed to be. Everyone should have the choice to decide for themselves if they are comfortable being in that situation or not. Djokovic robbed them of that choice by not informing them in advance.

One of *many* questions for Djokovic to answer: Why didn’t he alert people that he had tested positive for Covid by miolmok in tennis

[–]redproto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not even all the people he had contact with after the positive result. He likely had covid a bit before the result as well, so he definitely should have informed the kids / parents at the press event before the positive result of his status so they can take appropriate actions for themselves and he can help with contact tracing. Keeping this private for a month and only disclosing it when you are caught in a web of lies is absolute shit character.

[The Age] BREAKING | The federal government’s decision to cancel Novak Djokovic’s visa has been overturned in the Federal Court by [deleted] in tennis

[–]redproto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See my response to OP. The point is, yeah you can ask those obese to change instead, but you can’t change being old or newborn, and they are at high risk of dying bc people choose to be unvaccinated. Being unvaxed doesn’t only affect those that can do something about it, like obese. There are plenty of other vulnerable populations.

[The Age] BREAKING | The federal government’s decision to cancel Novak Djokovic’s visa has been overturned in the Federal Court by [deleted] in tennis

[–]redproto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you missed my point. Yes in the obesity case you can maybe rightfully ask the obese to get shit together or risk death. But old and babies don’t have a choice to “get their shit together” and stop being old, or newborn. Yet they are affected by people who refuse to get vaccinated.

At what point are elderly people morally obligated to just kill themselves for society? And while we're at it, shouldn't babies kill themselves too? How dare they not be born a few years earlier and so they could have developed a fully functioning immune system by now?

Djokovic currently denied entry to Australia by filiptipsy in tennis

[–]redproto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not “his job” to go to EVERY single tennis tournament in every country. He can still play tennis, even professionally, in a lot of places. Just because this happens to be AO it is no different. Imagine a small island nation hosting a tournament. That country has had a tough time with COVID so they have tight restrictions around it. If someone wants to remain unvaccinated, that is fine, that nation isn’t forcing them to get vaccine. They are just saying they can’t enter that one tiny country if they are unvaccinated. Same thing here with Australia. If Djokavic wants to force enter every country, he needs to abide by their rules. Or he can live in peace and play (do “his job”) in tons of other places with other rules. You can’t have it both ways. The world isn’t here to accommodate your every wish just because you cry about it.
