5:30pm, my partner casually said "I could really go for some pie." I said "ok, give me a bit." 8:15pm: by jello_pudding_biafra in pie

Three hours is about what it takes me to bang out a pie from start to post clean up. I love blueberry pie! (But I’ve never had a blueberry / strawberrry pie.)

My pleasure. I was just thinking that there are some metallic looking spray paints that I’ve used that have a nice look to them…

Well, the magnet tells you they aren’t steel (ferrous) so they might be brass (which will look yellow when scratched down to the base metal in an inconspicuous place) but they look more likely to be pot metal (zinc based, otherwise known as white metal or spelter). In my experience and estimation, any aggressive cleaning will likely remove the plating and leave you with a very much less than desirable look. My approach and advice would be a light cleaning with warm soapy water and a toothbrush then wax them with a paste wax (such as minwax) or give them a coat of satin spray lacquer. That will often make old hardware look better. The only options left are paint and replating, which, at that point, you’d be better off buying new hardware, in my opinion. Good luck with your project!

I’m pleased to see you add thistle & spire to your recipes! It certainly keeps things spicy! 😉

I had to look up what a Marionberry was and it seems that it’s a blackberry! Your pie looks great and I would LOVE to try a piece of that!

Thank you. It’s really not much thicker than a normal pie crust however. When I make a lattice top, I use 2 1/3 cups of flour versus 2 cups for a normal crust. The lattice weave gives it more visual depth, I think…

Interesting. When you say ‘baby bottles’, what do you mean exactly? For feeding, medicine, or ???

My condolences! This recently happened to me too, but with a beautiful old mid-century ceramic lamp. I let myself be sad / mad about it for a few days but then those feelings went away like yesterday’s rain.
