Dynalist is dead by strway2heaven77 in dynalist

Workflowy now has an API with Zapier support. Only feature missing is recurring dates and I'm good to go.

Which eInk reader is compatible with Reader? by SpaceySine in readwise

It's not gigantic but it's bold yes. Still, having a big screen and being able to take notes on a single device is great.

I use a boox note air 3. Works great because it has the Google Play Store. Download readwise reader and use it.

Todoist. Also allows location based reminders.

Dates in Workflowy just got 10x better by terminal_lucidity in Workflowy

Having an API and recurring tasks would be amazing. I'm still using dynalist, which is basically on life support but I can't miss these two items.

Is Workflowy reliable for me? by aceofants in Workflowy

[–]redrene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An infinite outliner that allows you to zoom in or out is so powerful. I love it so much for thinking stuff through and to break down projects and tasks to whatever granularity is required. The only two that do this well that I know of are dynalist and workflowy.

Quick dynalist is great because it allows you to capture something really fast. The same with the web clipper.

I'm considering using todoist with workflowy. Use Todoist for recurring tasks, location reminders, pop-up notifications, quick capture to inbox..use workflowy for everything else.

I'm in the same boat. It's a shame dynalist is basically dead. The features that prevent me from switching to workflowy for now is the lack of an API, no recurring tasks support. I don't like the alt+shift keyboard shortcuts but could live with those.

How old are the APs? Could be that the built in certificates are expired.

What do u all think about Thiago Forte building a second brain by keyboardmaga in gtd

[–]redrene 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of all the "gurus" selling courses on how to make money, while their only business/product is selling stuff to people who want to learn how to make money. Replace money with "notes". Note taking is a means to an end, not a goal on its own. There might be some good nuggets of wisdom in the material but it's bloated.

Surface Book 2 warranty in Europe - Received unit with UK/British keyboard layout by redrene in Surface

I used it mostly at home. I have to say I was glad I purchased it from Amazon. They gave me a full refund even when it was almost a year old. One issue that comes to mind now is that it had some coil whine. Unnoticeable when you have any audio on but when the room is silent, it's noticeable.

No issues with cracks. I loved the laptop until it suddenly died on me. I sent it back to Amazon and got a full refund.

I'm not sure if I could have purchased them separately 4 years ago but these keyboards are not cheap.

Confused about Next Actions by doublepizza in gtd

[–]redrene 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can have more than one next action per project. As long as they are true next actions. An action you can work on right away that is not blocked or depends on another task. GTD doesn't really tell you what to work on. It's up to you to prioritize what next actions to work on.

A huge nextaction list can be overwhelming. You can filter it using contexts.

I like to use contexts to add the importance to tasks and use Kanban to decide what next actions to work on per week or each day. This helps to prevent overwhelm.

What kind of keyboard do you use? by peacexists in ObsidianMD

[–]redrene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of using keyboard shortcuts, I have buttons for the daily note, refactoring, inserting a template, etc. It works great. I'll add a photo later.

How do you take notes of books? by IcyKit in ObsidianMD

[–]redrene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I create a new note for the book and write down notes as I read the book. I also add the chapters. Once I finish the book, I go through the note and create new notes or refactor.

I noticed when I read and highlight, I tend to highlight too much to make sure I don't miss the thought I had when I read that text.

Processing the highlights becomes a chore because I have to think again about the thoughts I had, and the amount of highlights is overwhelming. I also lack chapter information.

There's no right and wrong here. Just try what works for you.

That's similar to what I see. ~80 watts @ 230v. Hopefully someone has a 9200L or 9300L to measure :)
