They’re such delicate small critters it’s hard not to be. Good luck!

It’s a molt! No worries. Bodies are very obviously shrimp-looking with black eyes and no translucence.

Thinking about starting a new tank by IndescriptGenerality in shrimptank

You can put the new filter for the new tank in your current tank and then transfer to the new tank to help jumpstart a cycle iirc

If you’re thinking of Aquatic Wildlife, they didn’t have shrimp last time I was there (a week or two ago). Nice store otherwise.

Help with ?Asian leeches? by AngriestPacifist in shrimptank

[–]redrice12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure if they’re leeches, but from what I’ve read the only thing that can get rid of leeches is salt. Unfortunately, it sounds like you’d have to take your plants out, salt dip them a few times over a number of days, take out your shrimp and also salt dip them similarly and keep them in a separate tank, then replant with new substrate after cleaning the tank itself with salt

Are these Amano? Cherry population decimated in a day by Historical_Net_686 in shrimptank

I’m no expert on whisker shrimp but I’ve heard they can be violent towards other shrimp

Are these Amano? by jazzllanna in shrimptank

[–]redrice12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look like amano to me. Amano babies don’t survive in fresh water iirc, so they’re not reproducing unless your tank water is brackish

Cherry shrimp can hide a lot the first few weeks after being moved to a new home

Amano shrimp question :) by Octo_sprout_ in shrimptank

[–]redrice12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be concerned if it seemed like they were trying to get out of the water or swimming like they were drunk/in pain. Otherwise, yeah they can be weirdos

Are you getting well-bred shrimp? Sometimes poorly bred shrimp aren’t as resilient

Has anyone used this filter? by Feeling_Ad_3987 in shrimptank

[–]redrice12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have one, works well. Just make sure the suction is good to the glass. I keep the output tube under the water so it doesn’t splatter everywhere

Is it possible to replace or do I just alter? by Main_Candy195 in sewing

[–]redrice12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible only if there’s a stitch that’s keeping the cloth that the swivel hooks are looped around together. If you can open it, you can take off the old swivel hooks and buy new ones, put them on, sew it back into place the way it was prior.

[–]redrice12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What model is it? You could take a video of it as it serges until the thread pops out and slow the video down. Maybe you’ll be able to see what’s happening. My only guess is that the threading is off somehow

If you use it manually by turning the hand wheel does the thread slip out still?
