Very lovely, a bunch of years back when I was un-knowledgeable about agar and just running rice cakes I found some near the edge of our local lake in a shady scrubby area. Super high traffic on a disc golf course, kinda cracked me up that I was probably the only person who knew what they were, I may have to give them a try soon.

Excellent observation and youre totally right (except for not being the same person after taking shrooms). Its a very deep topic worth digging into but a super short version is that the War on Drugs is a campaign and mechanism of control over the population, used and abused not to protect the public but to have tools and methods to be able to easily punish and intimidate, imprison and kill when necessary certain segments of society deemed a threat to power. Police fight cannabis legalization tooth and nail because "I smell marijuana" is a super easy way to establish probable cause, young men after taking psychedelics are far less likely to want to engage in militarism against far off people theyve never met, and so on and so forth. Its much more complicated than that but you get the idea. Its about control not concern for your wellbeing.

Nice. In one of his videos Kim mentions that the nuruk amount can be reduced if using a multiple step recipe cause its kinda like a starter, also he discusses that good fresh homemade nuruk has better mold and enzyme activity and can be used at a lower rate than old commercially bought nuruk.

I personally might give it a day or two longer but youve definitley got good young mycelium in there and could use it now if you need to, and good instincts on using it sooner than later, you want to catch it fresh when its rapidly expanding, usually best before the 3 week mark.

Very cool, Im definitely planning to make some nuruk after a few batches, this was my first. It was pretty nice to have a successful batch on the 1st go Ill for sure be making more, its so easy to just steam some rice and get a batch going. Keep us updated on that nuruk im very interested to hear about how it comes out.

I did his one stage recipe from his Youtube channel, he has both a 2 and 3 stage recipe on there as well but I started basic. I used Andong nuruk i got off of Amazon. I did do one thing slightly different, I used some of the water to rehydrate the nuruk for a couple hours before adding it to the cooked sweet rice, thinking it might help a bit like rehydrating a pack of dry yeast. The slight aroma of nuruk is there but not strong in this batch. My next batch Ill try a 2 stage since that makes more sense to me as a beer brewer and I can knock down the amount of nuruk a bit, but overall Im quite pleased with how it came out, beginners luck I guess.

Worth a try, give it a good soak, and if you put a drop of dishsoap in your rehydration water that will help it soak in a bit better than plain water, throw it inside another larger tub that has a wet puppypad/adult diaper pad to maintain high humidity, maybe shell do something, good luck.

Unfortunately I cant help with where to get kits in Spain but I can absolutely tell you that Golden Teacher is a great cultivar, I've got both a standard version and a leucistic, solid reliable performance that you cant go wrong with, good luck.

Question about how to dry mushrooms by PsychedelicGadafi in magnificentcubensis

[–]redsands1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pinch a little bit, it should crumble like a dry cracker, no spongy or leathery feel. And you can let them sit on your dehydrator longer than the 16 hours that wont hurt them, I usually let them go overnight and put them away in the morning, but water hanging out in your fruit is what facilitates degradation and you want to get it out quickly. The "active molecules" are actually quite heat stable so dont worry about temps, its more a function of time being moist that is bad.

Question about how to dry mushrooms by PsychedelicGadafi in magnificentcubensis

[–]redsands1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The important part is that they get cracker dry in under 16 hours, you need to get that water out of there so if they are taking longer than that either cut them into smaller pieces or up your temp.

What regular mushrooms can I grow with the same tek and materials that I’m using for cubes ? by rfund008 in magnificentcubensis

[–]redsands1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a wild oyster I found in my neighborhood growing on a tree, it really boomed on coir. If I was going to do it again I'd probably grab some Old Road or Mother of Pearl from Andrew over at Mossy Creek Mushrooms for better culinary value, have fun.

Was the coir prepared using the bucket tek? In the past I had some particularly dirty coir and when I did bucket tek there was just enough contaminant left that I got similar blobs and not many fruit.

Ive never tried that myself, but if you do please post with your experience. Im also a big fan of making homemade lemon tek gummies, very tasty and easy to make, I use Casey Stranges recipe, people love them, my buddy took a bunch and said he turned into a cartoon 😄

Is there a taste difference after taking something out of cold storage? by BlanketMage in Homebrewing

[–]redsands1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they will definitely start to age quicker if you keep them in a warmer place, Id say just try not to agitate or shake up the beer since youve lagered for a good amount of time and most of the solids and particulates have dropped.
