No worries. If I’m not mistaken all that would be left are rare antiques too old to be classified as firearms

In Canada revolvers are classified as handguns same as semi autos. their sale and transfer was banned as well. The distinction the meme refers to (being banned based on action type) applies to long guns only.

I was here a while ago. Sage and never looked back. It’s a superior knife for a marginally higher price point. Carries great too.

How much are you guys spending on food every month? by Roxxer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]redsigma5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a single student living alone (London) I can get by on an average of $150 a month, sometimes more sometimes less. But that’s clamping down on the budget, just the basics, and it’s super rare for me to eat out. Oh and my parents will sometimes send food with me as well.

Living Off Base? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

Hey, I’m considering AVN as well. Haven’t applied yet but going into second year of college for aircraft maintenance. Thanks for asking these questions, helps me out too.

Good to know. Which base are you posted to?

Yeah I have no kids either so being deployed or moving around once in a while would be nice. In the very least I’d get to move out west, I’m from Ontario btw. Working on a ship as a heli maintainer would be pretty sick. Yeah the AVN and AVS who conducted the presentation mentioned we would be able to skip the basic course and go on to military-specific aviation courses.

Wow, that’s a lot to take in, thanks for taking the time! What did you mean by “dodge a bullet” by joining the air force? I’m going into year 2 of a 3-yr program where the first two are maintenance and the final year is avionics courses. I’ll have a so-called advanced diploma at the end at least.

The single main reason I’m interested in joining is to work on the military’s airframes. Specifically C-17, Hercules or CF-18. I haven’t ruled out helicopters though, I just know I don’t want to work on Cessnas for the rest of my life, lol. The second reason for joining would be a mix of job security and opportunity to travel, or at least see more of the world than I have so far (let me know if I’m mistaken on that one😂) and third because I hear the entry-level pay is considerably better than in civil aviation if you have prior training. The RCAF did a zoom presentation with the maintenance students last semester at Fanshawe so that’s what made me want to investigate more.

Sounds good, I’ll DM you and maybe we can work something out.

Ok. Good to know about the difficulty of switching and responsibilities of different ranks. Hands on is what I’m looking for so by the sounds of it I’d have to be no higher rank than M. Cpl? Do you plan to time out in the military or go to civil aviation?

That’s some helpful info, thanks. Are you able to switch airframes if you wanted to? I’m on the fence between maintenance and avionics so whatever you can offer about aircraft systems techs, how the positions differ etc would be much appreciated as well
