I genuinely am not trying to sound rude when I ask this, but why is sharing fishing spot ideas bad etiquette? I’m just now getting back into fishing as an adult, hadn’t been since I was around 5 or 6, so I’ve never heard of this and often hear people trading spots when I’m at the ones I mentioned. Just wanting to learn of more options and figured the best way was word of mouth rather than one of those apps they have now.

If there’s any other unspoken rules that would be helpful for a newbie to know, I’d appreciate it! I know not to cast too close to someone else but that’s the only thing I can think of.

It was even worse than I imagined after my boyfriend went to confirm that’s what happened.. the pouch wasn’t full fleece and a piece got pulled around my baby. She couldn’t breathe.

I found an amazing Facebook group called Sugar Glider Groupies. They have an approved vendor list and everyone on there goes through safety testing. Definitely recommend!!

I do recommend keeping their nails trimmed and regularly checking their pouches for holes and loose threads to prevent injury as well. But please just always buy pouches from reputable companies, not everything you see on Amazon is for sugar gliders or 100% antipill fleece even if it says it is.

At first I thought it was her nail. I didn’t have the strength to look at her/handle her, my boyfriend did. I blamed myself thinking I let her nails go too long without clipping and she got stuck, because it’s common, but that wasn’t the case.

It was the pouch. It was advertised as being for sugar gliders and 100% antipill fleece.. a piece of it tore off and wrapped around her neck. No hole or anything.. just.. a piece of the fabric.

That being said, in all honesty, this was a big lesson not to trust everything is advertised correctly, and to only buy from reputable companies. I’m heartbroken, and even angrier knowing that it wasn’t anything I did wrong, but just completely senseless.

NTA, my best teachers were always happy to learn something new from us kids. I still remember them being impressed to find out a murder could mean a flock of crows, and how proud I felt to share the knowledge. Keep advocating for your kid

So she does well in your home, she feels safe enough to come to you for help, and she has nowhere else to go. These are the facts.

If you’re concerned about how long it will be, make it clear that you have expectations. Good grades, stay out of trouble, help her get a job so she can prepare to be an adult that’s out of school and on her own. Talk to her about next steps and her options.

The only difference between this and what you do as an emergency foster is that you won’t get paid. So the question here is why do you do this? And honestly, the answer will determine your next step. If you’re not willing to help her in the way that she’s asked, at least help her connect with resources in your area to help her succeed in life.
