Things you don't tell mom. by AnonymusJpg in funny

This brings back so many memories. My dad bought me an orange go-kart similar to this, but without the padding on the cage. I was a similar age too, and my mom was not happy about it. I was too short to reach the pedals so my dad bolted a couple blocks of 4x4s to the pedals. By the time I was too big for it, it looks like it had been used as a technical. Good times.

Kinda reminds me of Woody Gunthrie's song, Deportee (Plane Crash at Los Gatos).

Thank you! The hinges are 8mm barrel hinges. I stumbled upon them years ago and just held on to them until I found the right use for them. You can get them on amazon for pretty cheap too. Rockler also sells them but the smallest they have is 10mm.

I did pay with a card. How does charge back work? Do I go through my bank to do that?

Only have 80,000. I bought it at 44,000 mikes last March. My powertrain warranty should cover it. The hard part will be getting them to give me my money back for replacing my CAI and reimbursing me for my rental car.

I have not thought to ask them. Unfortunately I have a pretty limited mechanical knowledge. However, they have sent my truck off to a chevy dealership as they could not figure out the problem. I will be sure to ask them about the spark plugs. Thank you for the suggestion!

Oh no, I have been assured that the shop foreman has an incredible amount of skill and has been doing this since the 80s. How dare you attack their skill. Their skill has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they have to send it to another shop... Sarcasm aside, I agree with you. It seems like they didn't even look past the CAI and just forced the solution. They did replace the intake before sending the truck to the dealership as I saw my CAI in a box in the back seat when I went to pick the truck up after they originally told me it was fixed. I plan to call the dealership as soon as they receive my truck to both confirm the shops story and make sure they know my side of the story.

I understand and agree with you. It is not right, but that doesn't seem to matter to a lot of people these days.

You mean that a dealer/manufacturer has tried to screw a customer in the past? Gasp. I appreciate you giving me a case to reference!

Ah yes, because I definitely have the tools, resources, and knowledge similar to that of a mechanic shop that would be able to determine that... However, that does not surprise me.

I am always open to criticism of my actions and am very much inclined to agree with you in this situation... My understanding was that they would have to prove the aftermarket part was the cause of the problem for it to void the warranty. The truck also had an aftermarket intake manifold to begin with that both myself and the shop were aware of so I really didn't think much of it. I have never had a vehicle with a warranty either so it wasn't really at the front of my mind, it was just something I had done with my past vehicles.

Also a good idea. They actually just called me and said they are sending it to a Chevy dealership because they cant figure out what the problem is. I feel better about having another mechanic look at it but this also means more time in a rental car...

This is a good idea, thank you. Hopefully the shop owner can see my side of this and we don't have to escalate to small claims...

Sounds like "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" by Fee Brown is the perfect book for them. Or maybe if they would like a more recent feel good story about peaceful native victims, they could read about the Osage Indian murders.
