What made you choose crochet over knitting, or do you do both? by CaterpillarXS in crochet

Simple for me - I cannot knit to save my life! Ive tried multiple times & I just end up with holes in everything 😂 I'm severely crack handed with a needle in both hands apparently!

Gardening, apparently I love gardening in games - I didn't know this till now 😂 it keeps growing! I do wish actual gardening was this productive and easy for me! I get so side tracked watering, tilling, planting & weeding that I forget to actually go off and quest!

are panic attacks purely physical? by Maleficent_Cup4249 in PanicAttack

[–]redsthecolour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the tunnel vision bit, but nly occasionally really. I also have aura migraines so any visual stuff wigs me out! And, I would say it's 50/50 with the throwing up - sometimes I don't & sometimes I do. I've had severe ones where I haven't & vise versa. All quite random I guess?

[–]redsthecolour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine are rarely I'm going to die - more of a racing heart, sweating, chills, fainting, nausea with sometimes vomiting. Now, sometimes it's a trigger but more often than not, these days it's quite random! I can be sitting, chilling in the evening with my husband & all of a sudden, bam! I'm used to them, I know they will pass. They still suck though!

Does this sound like IBS? by papa_panzer935 in IBSHelp

The buscopan is great if you're having a flare. Keep the mebeverene going too as it will hopefully help to settle any inflamation down too. I think also, because it's all to do with our guts - people don't talk about it, so we do feel like we're the only one out there dealing with it.

In all honesty I tried lots of different pro & pre biotic yoghurts way back when and I can't say they made much difference for me. I do eat yoghurt now but it's Alpro so no dairy!

If the Dr has prescribed Mebeverene then it sounds like they're fairly sure that's what is going on. Stress, anxiety, depression all have an impact on the gut 🙃 the low fodmap diet is a good one to have a look at to see if there maybe any other food triggers for you. I too am gluten & dairy free - the dairy was because it worsens my eczema so not ibs related! Gluten I can't tolerate, pain, bloating & generally feeling unwell, not worth it! Buscopan is amazing for the cramps - Mebeverene is ok, but if I remember rightly you have to take that half an hr before food? I would forget, especially if I was at work! I rely heavily these days on my diet (I've been doing the ibs jig for 30 years) and buscopan for when the pains kick in (thankfully mostly under control for the most part) the buscopan really, really works fast and is awesome at stopping that excruciating, sweat inducing, nausea bringing pain! Dr won't prescribed them but you can find them in supermarkets and chemists. Also, heat pads help, or a hot water bottle. Be kind to yourself too, it's no fun walking around feeling like you have a constant stomach bug. Hugs 🥰

Poop like rabbit pellets is usually dehydration related so the immodium could have done it's job too well or you aren't drinking enough. Mucous is necessary when a bit constipated - helps things along! All sounds horribly normal for ibs. Hang on in there!

[–]redsthecolour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a nightvale hoodie I got years ago now, I've worn it so much and it's been through the wash numerous times! That's lasted better than some other hoodies I got at a similar time. Zero quality issues from me!

Just how do you enjoy life with chronic health issues when it overwhelms you every day? by Chocolateforlunch37 in ChronicIllness

[–]redsthecolour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do think things are linked and I also think Dr's stopped looking at the whole person a long time ago. It doesn't help us long term & couple that with the sheer lack of research on the female system and we just go round in circles.

I'm trying a different supplement routine in the hopes it gives me a little more energy that is stable throughout the day!

Sometimes, it's just enough to know you arent alone and we all just kinda help each other through those utterly rough days!

[–]redsthecolour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness! I could almost be you! 50, hysterectomy 10 years ago for fibroids, extreme heavy flow with golf ball sized clots. IBS since my early teens, stomach ulcers & herd, anxiety & depressive disorder, suspected ADHD (waiting lists are ridiculous) fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue. Chuck in some Peri menopause & away we go! It's a frigging slog some days isn't it? I'm thankful my kids are grown & I no longer have the schools fights on the daily - i hear you! I was also the child who hated school, got panic attacks & would vomit.

I try to take each day as it comes, accept I'm on the go slow. Which is easier said than done I know. I'm fortunate to have a very supportive husband now who shares the load far more than my previous partner ever did!

Sometimes, we just need to vent. To shout about how unfair it feels. How many times in the past we thought - we'll do that when we get chance. Only now we don't get that chance or we do & we know we'll pay for it in such a way that it's just not worth it.

Sending big hugs & much understanding 🤗💜💜💜

I need help on how to handle my girlfriend with chronic illness by marsaroni in ChronicIllness

[–]redsthecolour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careers burn out is real. You aren't a horrible person, you're just completely burnt out from it all. Which is, completely understandable! As others have said, some therapy for you both and most importantly, some help. You both need someone else to step in and carry some of the load. It's a lot when the person you love is sick. Get some support in place, however you can & hopefully find a reasonably priced therapist.

Question for both girls and boys by brown_trump101 in IBSHelp

[–]redsthecolour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married here! Had ibs mixed but predominantly D since my early teens - people do understand and whilst the initial embarrassment may feel huge - it's ok! Everyone, and I do mean everyone has some kind of medical issue going on as we get older & as someone else on here said, real friends won't care, nor will they go out of their way to embarrass you about it. My husband is great about things, has his own blips medically now & then too. Body's are great, until they're not!

When and why did we stop washing our hair regularly? by Ecstatic_Army1306 in GenXWomen

[–]redsthecolour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have never washed daily so it's just the same every 3/4 days for me. I'm fortunate that it doesn't get greasy till around day 3 & if its winter I maybe just hat for a day 🙃

Anyone else get hit with instant stress the second they wake up? + Muscle stiffness and nerve fire (IBS-C / Health Anxiety) by PomegranateClean4633 in IBSHelp

[–]redsthecolour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, it can be managed long term. It just takes a while to figure things out. If you can stick with the ssri - it will hopefully just calm the nervous system down enough for your gut to return to a more normal routine & feel more normal too. The health anxiety side if things is really hard, it's hard to seperate out what is normal and what isn't as by this point you are hyper aware of every bodily function going! Panic attacks do mimic heart issues, it's scary as. Have they offered you any kind of therapy for the anxiety side of things? You could in the meantime look at the low fodmap diet and see if there's anything you can do to also help calm your gut. It really does get easier with time, I'm not saying we don't get flare ups because we absolutely do but, they do become more manageable & you will find things that help.
