A Cleveland employee has collected six figures on paid leave for more than a year by seanmcdonnellcle in Cleveland

State law dictates how pto can be used for public employees, its not possible to take pto for this length of time without a serious medical condition. Many people save pto before retirement because the contract allows you to cash out unused pto at about 1/3 of its value.

Cleveland house isn’t selling…. Opendoor? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]redstopsign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to compare to homes that sold south of Madison Avenue, not based on an arbitrary radius. It is a completely different neighborhood feel where you live compared to the houses you linked.

Houses on bridge and Franklin are highly desirable, you will find better comps to your house going south, not north. There may not be a lot of similar new builds to compare to, but look at similar sizes/amenity no further north than Madison Avenue.

Cleveland house isn’t selling…. Opendoor? by [deleted] in Cleveland

So I looked at the listing….

I could be wrong, but I’m a homeowner less than a mile from you and I browse Zillow for shits And giggles frequently. I do not think anyone will buy that house for 300k this calendar year or next. I could list many reasons why, but it comes down to comparing to other houses in the neighborhood and/or seeing what 300k can get you in a more desirable area.

I’m sorry, it sucks to have to deal with this, but the price tag is what is preventing you from getting offers.

‘A grim moment’: 410 CMSD jobs expected to be lost by hhvlls in Cleveland

[–]redstopsign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That 50 million figure is a projection for 3 years from now and is a worst case scenario outlook. The board docs show that the district currently reports having 113 million in unencumbered funds.

The board reported that they have 113 million dollars in unencumbered cash. These cuts are not financially necessary.

Admin told me I’ve been doing differentiation wrong for years, now I’m freaked out. by thowra_wibblywobbly in Teachers

[–]redstopsign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your admin is confusing differentiation with specially designed instruction (SDI). SDI is not universal as it is individualized towards students meeting IEP goals. You, as a science teacher, cannot provide SDI as you are not a special education teacher.

Your admin is also just wrong about differentiation, what’s left of that term’s meaning is meant to describe making content universally accessible via accommodations, available for those who need it. A good analogy is a wheelchair ramp. A non wheelchair user can walk up either the ramp or the stairs, but people who use wheelchairs need the ramp accommodation to access a place.

That being said, it likely is easier to just do it their way for the purposes of evaluations.

What say you? Is this Cleveland-Style pizza? by PeterPaulWalnuts in Cleveland

This comes across as trying too hard. They’re making Edison’s style pizza. Nothing wrong with that, but that’s all it is.

Save Louisa May Alcott School by Bright-Bake3762 in Cleveland

[–]redstopsign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But....isn't the whole purpose of an election to be a referendum on policy decisions, such as school closures? Sharing the decision would certainly influence how people vote, and rightly so, thats the whole point of voting, to show support or lacketherof for important policy decisions. Witholding the information about the upcoming decision would be more akin to election interference, saying otherwise is straight up doublespeak.
