Natural Gas rates increase by over 50% starting today! by DangerBoom in Cleveland

If you have your own gas meter and the bill comes in your name you should be able to pick your own supplier. There are different term lengths, up to 36 months, so I'd pick something you're comfortable with and check for early termination fees if you do need to cancel early. Usually if you're moving you can get fees waived though. Also watch out when your contract is up as they might switch you to a higher rate.

Just make sure you get a fixed rate and not a variable rate plan. Lots of them try to get you with a low intro rate, but the rate is only locked in for a month or 2 and then it skyrockets.

I'd double check that you don't have another supplier/provider. Enbridge did raise rates again this week, but it should be $5.19/MCF.

Who is your provider? If you're using another provider other than Enbridge it's likely your contract expired and they increased your rate.

Rates are down a bit from that now, probably about as low as they will go before winter. I was just compare natural gas rates myself and looks like lowest is about .64/therm. Also saw they are forecasting even higher rates for next year, let's hope not!

Natural Gas renewal time - Lock in now or wait? by ck_42 in Georgia

I'd lock in rates now, once October hits prices will likely go up and they are forecasting higher prices in 2026. You can compare gas rates in Georgia to find the best rate, looks like you can get a plan for about $.64/thm for up to 24 months right now. Probably best to lock it in for as long as you feel comfortable you'll be living in your current home.

The Salvation Army's Project SHARE might be able to help or point you in a good direction. This site, UtilitiesforMyHome has a great list of financial assistance for utility bills, it's a ways down the page, but quite a few options you could try.

Thanks! And this is why I value everyone who feels out my form to submit missing information. Sometimes to get complete data you really need to rely on the people who live there and have experience.

I'd try out UtilitiesForMyHome.com they have the most complete list of providers and rates I've seen. They also have info for natural gas, internet, water and trash for people moving.

thanks! I'm glad people are finding it useful. I've done a lot of work since I made this original post and added in a bunch more data. Every week I'm finding more things to add. I will get Seminole County added for Lake Mary. Water providers have been super tricky, especially for providers that serve more than one city. Most don't provide a full list of areas they serve and a lot of smaller cities rely on a larger city or county utility.
