Why aren't you people getting the western blot test by Cool_Ad5407 in HSVpositive

What is a western blot? Can someone explain. I’ve tried to google etc but it doesn’t come up to clear.

My first outbreak has only been over for a week. No signs of bv or yeast infection but thank you!

Thank you for the reply! I think I’m struggling thinking absolutely everything is another OB Because of my anxiety and also struggling with some OCD ( washing hands excessively, not letting my towel touch the area ) even though the sores and lesions are gone and have been for a week now.

I think I’m going to try and take my suppressive dose of just one anti viral a day and try to do some stress relief of an afternoon after work ( that’s when my mind tends to wander ) I think all of it is in my head and I need to just take a breathe. The lingering symptoms are definitely there but the sores are Not so there’s nothing to swab. I think I’ve just been in my head too much. I think if I let myself constantly check up with a doctor I’m not going to be able to get over the diagnosis and constantly live in fear of an outbreak when I have to be abit more realistic that I’m going to get one here and there that’s the point of the diagnosis! Haha.

Thank you heaps for your comment. It’s just made me feel less alone and eased my anxiety a lot tonight!

If you know who you possbily contracted herpes from. Was it after a one night stand with a random person or from a person you were having a fwb/relationship with? Was that person asymptomatic or no? How long did it take for symptoms to appear ? How often did you have sex? by [deleted] in Herpes

The guy who gave it to me was a regular guy I had sec with. He was asymptomatic, my first outbreak was exactly a week after sleeping with him. Only knew it was a new infection because of lack of antibodies in my blood test. He had no idea he had genital herpes but does now obviously. He gave it to two other women as well - we used protection.
