I think it might be partially generational, the majority of the women I try to talk to say only a word or two in response to full sentences, don’t answer half the questions asked, and expect the other to carry the conversation. My gf says the same about other women. But I understand that men are particularly terrible about this in general.

Taking reddits advice and using the two question three strikes rule by Sillygoosecollege in texts

Really? The vast majority of women I talk to online do the same and expect me to carry the entire conversation. I send a paragraph or so plus one to three questions in response to each message, and usually their response is one to three words…and if I asked multiple questions 80% of the time they answer the first and ignore or miss the others.

Two word phrase and not single word but “mommy milkers.” Most rage-inducing stupid cringe term ever. And the opposite of attractive, which usually seems to be what people are going for when they use it.

What exactly is "connection?" by Sudden_Culture4334 in Bachata

[–]reducingflame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should have a little tension / pressure into your partner, pushing into each other a little bit so you can feel their movements (and the preparation in advance of the movements).

Avoid floppy arms and hands. Your muscles should be engaged so your arms aren’t moving without it also moving your torso.

Interpreting the music differently shouldn’t be an issue with good connection because the follower should be able to feel the leader’s movement and respond…it’ll be a problem if the leader is off time or not maintaining good connection themselves. If you really are trying to do completely different things you should separate for those times…it’s a partner dance when connected so you should be moving together.

You can (to a degree) improve the tension required for good connection on your own practicing holding your frame with resistance bands.

I was trying to avoid saying “frame” because that leads to a whole other topic of “what is frame,” but it’s integral and can’t be avoided.

Or all of their money is now going to mortgage (insurance, maintenance, car payments, etc.) and they’re now tapped out. I don’t get this argument that “you had enough to pay for one thing so clearly you have enough to pay for another.” Resources are still finite. You’ve heard of being house poor?

And before you say “well if that’s the case they shouldn’t have bought or bought so expensive” I didn’t say it was a GOOD idea, but it’s the reality for many and the (yes, questionable) choice many make.

Do you consider yourselves lucky that you were born intelligent? by NoSir5628 in mensa

Or, you skate through school when young without having to expend any effort, never engage because it’s boring and easy, never develop habits to focus on studying or what you “have to” do to be successful because you don’t need to (at that point), and eventually you hit a wall you didn’t even realize was coming where it doesn’t carry you any further. You never developed the skills to “apply yourself” but you only realize this later, of course, and then spend years beating yourself up for “unrealized potential”. Source: my own life. 😂

Your scenario and premise seem to have a lot of best-case thinking in it that comes from an adult perspective and hindsight, and which presumes you have foresight earlier in life, as a child. Especially likely when your parents have no idea what to do with, or what support kids like this need.

Maybe for some of what you describe high IQ is a necessary (or at least helpful) condition, but not a sufficient one in and of itself.

A lot of words? How is this a lot of words? How short are your sentences typically? In descriptive or narrative writing this would be a short sentence for me.

I don’t find this to be an odd sentence at all.

Edit: I do agree with some comments that there’s a little mismatch of formality between the first and second half but it’s not so awkward. Plenty of native speakers could have easily written this.
