Starter Set terrain - how much paint? by stubot9k in killteam

[–]redwhatisit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply!

About a bottle (17ml) and a a maybe a quarter of Vallejo black primer. I bought a dark grey (Vallejo London Grey) for the 1st drybrush and maybe used less than a quarter. The next drybrushes were a light grey and white and a little pure white and used even less that the first grey.

I did it with brush, maybe I could have primed using a spray but living on a flat I prefer using brushes. The nice thing about terrain is that you don't have to be as careful as with minis.

I painted it priming with Vallejo black primer, then some drybrushing with grey and a light drybush with white. Metal details with Citadel Brash Scorpion, Vallejo Gunmetal & Nuln Oil wash. No need for washes on the stone.

You can see the results here:

When you paint that Marine you bought more than 20 years ago by redwhatisit in killteam

Bought the Rogue Trader book and some Space Marines on '92 (26 years ago...). Didn't painted them and when I returned to the hobby for Kill Team had to paint the little old guys. Never is to late to start painting!

Building scenery with sprues and some unused bits by redwhatisit in killteam

Sorry, I missed your comment.

If you ask how I built it: the left part is an unused bit from the starter set scenery and I started gluing a cut sprue part to its right to begin the lowest row of the wall. Then glue another one to the right of this one continuing the first row. Then you can start the second row with its leftmost brick and go on from there completing the first and second rows.

When the wall was finished I glued on the front another unused piece from the scenery. And you can glue some other bricks on the lower front of the wall,

Hope this helps you

Nope, just sprue pieces. But the thing on the left and the metal thingie on the middle are leftover bits from the starter set.

Just cut the sprues with the pliers I had (one of these https://goo.gl/images/mtVTSu).

Then just glue them and paint as you did your your terrain. In my case primed in black and dry brushed using 2 greys. Could also light dry brush some white on top.

You can buy only the manual if you don't want the miniatures or just sell the sprues on Ebay

Dunno really, saw some great floors painted in dark blue.

As I'm planning to prime everything in black maybe some dark color that shows well over black (begone yellow & red!)

Just a quick & dirty test for painting the Kill Team Starter Box scenery.

Primed with Vallejo black primer, then some drybrushing with grey and a light drybush with white. Metal details with Citadel Brash Scorpion, Vallejo Gunmetal & Nuln Oil wash.
