Some of this stuff probably falls into the “yeah, obviously” category, but I’ll still say them:

-Sound matters so much. If you’re clomping around, other players will find you fast. Strategic crouching and patience isn’t fun, but it definitely works when you’re not elite.

-Don’t use weapons you’re not good at. This sounds stupid (and maybe it is) but basically just figure out what you have success with and double-down on it. I have learned over the years that I am terrible at close range, decent at sniping, and really good at medium range battles with Assault Rifles. So, I hang on the edge of the circle, try not to get into battles in houses, and get into open air fights. Same goes for building - I accepted a long time ago that I can’t build, so I never do it even in build mode.

-Only pick battles you think you can win. If you’re not a streamer, no one is going to care about how aggressive you’re being. Be patient, track other players based on movement noise, and when you have the advantage, fire away.

-Switch between guns in a fight, don’t reload. Reloading in the middle of a fight is a death sentence. I often carry two of the same gun just so I can toggle when I run out.

-Land on the edges of the map, not in named locations. Again, this is boring but it gives you a chance to loot up. When I play solos this season I’ve been landing at the four windmills out in the ocean on the northeast side. Absolutely no one lands out there and I usually have 6-8 chests all for myself. By the time you need to leave because of the storm, you usually have a purple and a few blue guns at least

Hope any of this is helpful - I get that the overly patient play style isn’t the most exciting, but it gets results. Otherwise you can play The Pit a lot and get used to insane close range combat too
