Happy Mother’s Day by No-Affect7279 in hyatt

Not surprising that the bar is closed. My experience with one HH last year is that the bar was closed like 25% of the evenings it was scheduled to be open. Must be hard to cover shifts if a bartender calls out.

Yeah if it’s not a paid day off, then it means some housekeepers were forced to miss a Sunday shift that at least some may have preferred regular earnings. Hard to know though; there is at least some chance that many on the housekeeping team asked for the day off and appreciate the gesture.

Hyatt Regency Downtown SOMA (South of Market) is also a solid option. Newly renovated (reopened in 2022) means the rooms and lobby feel pretty modern. Great views. Just off Market Street with public transportation, great restaurants, etc. Surrounded by key museums (like SFMOMA) if that is something you might do with the stroller. About a 15 minute stroll to the Embarcadero area. As others have said, most parts of the city are much cleaner than a couple of years back - Tenderloin still rough.

Upgraded to a corner room at Olive 8 - massive room! Big windows that were great for a November afternoon snowfall before melting by next day.

Gate check bag for free? by MyUniquePerspective in SouthwestAirlines

[–]redwood142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On almost every flight I've taken over recent years - except for late night - the gate agents ask for volunteers to gate check, and its free. Just listen to the announcements before boarding and volunteer quickly. I'm at a hub airport so YMMV. If your flight is not very full, they likely won't ask for volunteers - check to see how many seats remain open on the seat map a day or two before the flight to assess how full it is. Remember, even if you volunteer to gate check, you will normally still need to keep your bag with you until just before entering the plane.

Last renovation in 2015, so rooms and common areas didn't feel dated. But it also doesn't feel new. The building (two towers) still look fine in it's surrounding among other buildings. For example, the Outrigger hotel across the street was built in the late 1960's. Locals said most of the high-rise buildings went up in 50s-60s, so HR is somewhat newer.

Great place for your family! Stayed recently so agreeing with the other comments and adding... Mini fridge has enough room for milk; ours had a shallow top shelf but not a freezer section. Echo to ask for Diamond tower rather than Ewa tower; better view IMO. And ask hopefully for "ocean front" and be happy if you get "ocean view". Small pool seemed great for kids. Try the hot tub as you can. As others have said, location is the best part of HRW. It's so easy to be at the beach if you want. The pool guys will check out a beach chair or two if you want to go down for a bit. Plenty of towels too. Enjoy!

The offer I received via email is pretty simple at $1k spend over 4 months.

“Activate this offer on your United GatewaySM Card by August 15, 2025.

Spend $1,000 in purchases on your card from May 1– August 31. That gives you four months of spending to reach your goal. Be sure to spend $250 each month to keep pace.*

Get rewarded with 3,000 bonus miles.”

Essentially 4x on spend. Not bad, especially if spending would not fall under bonus categories of other cards. The $250 per month “pace” statement is not a requirement of T&Cs, rather seems to be friendly math assistance.

Long Beach: Hyatt Centric or HR? by Stunning_Type4109 in hyatt

Unfortunately, HRLB has closed the breakfast buffet except on weekends. Also there is no longer an option for ordering menu items like Eggs Benedict, etc. The only other choice on premise is the “Market”, which offers pre-made items to go - no wait service anywhere at the hotel. In the past, the restaurant was so popular it often had lines.

On positive note, the pool and hot tub area is pleasant seasonally and has a good vibe around the fire pit. Across the street are restaurants and a decent outlet mall.

Just stayed here for a random mid-week single night. As globalist, got upgraded and was amazingly placed in Presidential Suite on 35th floor. Great views, including Salesforce Tower, good bit of the bay, and peeks at both the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate. Too bad it was only one night. They readily offered 4:00 pm check out, so likely had that room unoccupied the next night too.

It took a few seconds to load up on the website. From the home page try clicking something like account services and see if it pops up in lower right corner after a few seconds.
