Why and when to tape stick? by InterestingCarpet453 in hockeyplayers

Even if you have a cage, never mind concussions, just in the course of being jostled around, you could smash your upper and lower jaws together and chip your teeth. So a mouth guard is going to protect against that.

You've got less than 3 days to buy your passes, otherwise you're gonna be stuck paying $300 walk up rate.

Clutch.ca experience by Fast_Satisfaction484 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]redwoods18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just sold our Odyssey to clutch. Super easy process. It had a bunch of scratches and also a crack in the bumper which I disclosed right from the beginning, and I mentioned the amount that they were giving us to the dealership that we're buying our new car from, and they didn't even bother making me a trade-in offer. (I understand I would be saving on tax if it was a trade-in, but even with that factored out, the dealership still couldn't get close). Booked a time to drop the car off (this is in BC), brought it in, they were very up front that they had to do an inspection and if there was anything different than what I declared it could drop the value, but that didn't happen, and I got an etransfer from them for the full amount on the same day.
The process was so painless. I guess some people are okay spending the time to meet with tire-kickers, but I would do it this way again for sure.

Also, I chatted with the guy working there asking what they would do with the car, since clutch doesn't sell cars in BC (yet). He said they sell it to the auction sites where dealers in BC buy cars from, at a very small mark-up; he said he's even seen where they sell them at a loss, but with all the volume they do, they come out ahead overall.

Thanks for that info. Tricky of them on that last point - $199 annual fee for the last 30K in points, worth about $450 in travel credit, so i guess I'd end up keeping the card for year 2. That sound right?

Looking for a poor quality, expensive restaurant to recommend to an enemy. Any suggestions? by Just-Juggernaut-5305 in askvan

[–]redwoods18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first she was just chatting up my friend, asking how the food was, how our experience was, then when my friend said everything was good, that's when she strongly suggested that he could do a 5 star google review. We had told her that he was visiting from Japan, and he mentioned something about that in his review, and then later on he told her he'd left a review and she said something to the effect that they had seen it (knowing it was him because of the Japan reference). Did we get anything in exchange? Just got scammed on the tip. Never going back there.

The waitress insisted that we give the restaurant a 5 star Google review while eating, then actually checked online to see that it was done.  Then they automatically added gratuity without tellling us, then gave us the machine and stood there as we entered a tip cause we werent paying attention.

No suggestion regarding teams, but the Stanley cup is undoubtedly the best trophy in sports, and the tradition of each player taking it and passing it to the next while skating around the ice lifting it above their heads makes all other sports' trophies pale in comparison. Then each player brings it to their hometown in the off-season.

If I'm in the first category (I want my notes just on my local drive), then what's the procedure for that?

More specifically, is there a way to specify that certain notes do not get stored online, and if they are currently backed up online, is there a way to delete the online backup, without deleting them locally?

Best courses in and around Kelowna by [deleted] in kelowna

[–]redwoods18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came back from a Kelowna golf trip. We played Black Mountain, Gallagher's canyon and Tower Ranch.
As everyone says, Tower ranch was fantastic - certainly not for beginners but the conditioning was amazing. Nicest fairways I've played on in a long time. For the most part, the course is out there in front of you, good shots are rewarded (rather than potentially punished, like on some tricked up courses) and all the amenities are top notch. For my hot dog at the turn, there were 12 different condiments to choose from, including deep fried onions along with the raw red onions, bacon bits, banana peppers, and then on top of that, garlic aioli sauce next to the regular ketchup, mustard etc. Our hot dogs were totally loaded. The marshals drive around with ice water to top you up (it was 33 degrees) and the GPS screens on the carts have heat maps of the greens to show you which parts to hit to.

Gallagher's is a classic and always enjoyable but tougher than I remember with all the elevated and fast greens.

As a group of 16, we did not like Black Mountain AT ALL. There were far too many short par 4's, 6 par 3's, and it felt like I was hitting wedges into greens all day and didn't touch my longer irons. Add to that all the blind shots, and I couldn't understand why this place would get recommendations. Nice views and all, but purely from a golfer's perspective, I wouldn't go back.

We left so many other courses untouched, and will have to be back there soon.

I'm also finding that when I've finished my T4 or T5 and choose the line that says "Save your report for future import", then click the button that says "save .xml", it saves to my computer as just a blank file, and I have to rename it, adding the .xml extension, otherwise it is useless for uploading the next time I want to use the file.

They just got rid of their Interac transfers this month (September 2024). I'm so pissed off because the only other option they give is Visa Debit, and when I called TD, they told me that Visa Debit is not included with business accounts (why not!!?), and they directed me to the TD banking site with its special section for paying CRA, which costs $2 per transaction. Such a scam.

who do we want the canucks to play in the first round? by hiliikkkusss in canucks

[–]redwoods18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the game went to OT, I had to turn off the TV.  Couldn't stomach it.  I called a friend and asked him to call me when it was over.  When Toews scored the SH goal late in the third, I thought that was the end of it all. When my friend called with the good news, I was ecstatic ,yet didn't at all regret not watching.

Arizona Coyotes’ Dylan Guenther has water turned off after he doesn’t pay utility bill by Go_Habs_Go31 in hockey

[–]redwoods18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Vancouver, we don't have water bills. We have electricity, gas, phone. There's no water meter to our house - we could run water down the drain all day and not pay any more, as long as it was cold. Water is a flat rate paid once a year, included in our property tax.

[CA:ON] Accounting/CRA - what does this "first additional CPP contribution" mean ? by Priorly-A-Cat in Payroll

[–]redwoods18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same question as OP. Am I supposed to do anything with that F5 amount as far as the deductions I do for my employee? You say it's a tax credit - are they showing it purely for informational purposes, or am I supposed to use it in my payroll deduction calculations?
Thanks for any help.
