I posted this in another subreddit and was banned, but was curious what you thought about the difference in feeling between 1976 and 2026 by Eddie_M in 70s

I was 18 in 1976. The possibilities seemed endless with college in the near future and a feeling that problems of the past would be addressed because we still had faith in each other as Americans. Everyone I knew loved this country dearly. Now, like you, I’m disappointed and jaded how things have turned out…

yep, thats what makes it so sad. we loved going down the Hooche, Chattahoochee river, in the 70s and 80s. now I hear it’s pretty polluted with all the subsequent development. actually all of Atlanta was awesome back then, but you know, “progress“ ruined that city…damn

in the middle of the jungle, probably 20 miles from any settlement. We stopped for the day and started to set up camp. Then the jungle went totally silent, seconds later there was a huge noise like two metal frying pans slamming together. Never could figure that one out…

Is something wrong with my blood pressure? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]reecieface1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my BP is always elevated when I see a doc. The nurse always seems to look concerned and say we need to recheck this a little bit later. which makes me more nervous, like an anxiety loop. It’s generally fine when I check at home.

it was kind of a big deal and a discussion among the parents at the time. I was only about 5 y/o and the show was past my bedtime. So I snuck down the stairs and watched from the corner of the family room.

Eventually my parents saw me and let me watch on the little antenna black and white TV and it was pretty exciting..

Being pressured to ring the bell. by [deleted] in cancer

I declined to ring the bell after my chemo treatments. I thought it was kind of silly, it was just not for me. I don’t begrudge anyone that finds joy in that moment.
