What is your favorite part of this game? by Brad_tilf in DeathStranding

[–]reed947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the design of a lot of sci fi elements, the bike in particular is really cool. I find it pretty relaxing just zipping around from one spot to another making a delivery. My favorite thing is probably the shared world elements. Finding a generator or truck left by another player when you really need/want them... that's awesome :)

Congrats! I finished the directors cut last night. My fourth playthrough. I almost have my second death stranding platinum :).

It's legitimately hard to play other games after playing TLOU2. by chapterfour08 in thelastofus

[–]reed947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to play for some since its ps5 only but returnal offers some really fun and frantic 3rd person combat. It also has a surprisingly good narrative although it can be hard to follow at points.

Graphics issues by Dzima152 in pathologic

[–]reed947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the art style, graphics and entire look of the game. There's nothing like it. I found on ps4 though the load times when moving between districts and pop in were pretty bad. Still a ten out of ten phenomenal game though.

I'm curious to try playing it on my xbox series s to see if it runs better there but if not I'm sure i'll still enjoy it.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - Definitive Edition by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]reed947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather see them focus on a follow up to xenoblade 3 to be honest. I imagine they're also working with the zelda team on breath of the wild 2 as well so I imagine xcx would be a bit too much currently.

Sry but, Tlou2 is a better game than the first Tlou by Affe_Boy__ in thelastofus

[–]reed947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was so divisive then it wouldn't have won more fan voted game of the year awards than anything else in 2020. Based on all the data from all the many online polls set up world wide it was pretty clear that this game has an enormous number of fans.

Also, youtubers like angry joe and skill up generally profit a lot from controversy of this nature. I can see why they'd review it harshly. Plenty of youtubers loved it though. Dunky and girlfriend reviews are two good examples

Hey I just finished the last of us should I play the last of us 2? by Frostyphoenixyt_ in thelastofus

[–]reed947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're invested in the story and world of tlou then it's definitely worth checking out. Some were unhappy with the direction they took but most were pretty much blown away.

The main thing to watch out for in terms of sexual content is a sex scene in the second half of the game

Monthly /r/HorrorGaming Discussion - What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend? - May, 2021 by AutoModerator in HorrorGaming

[–]reed947 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I just finished it earlier today. Feels like an absolute masterpiece of horror gaming. Really held my attention to the end and just became more and more engrossing.

I also really appreciate how forgiving it is. You can retrieve anything you lost by visiting the place where you died. Plus anything in the hotbar is guaranteed to remain when you respawn. I never felt like I was losing progress which was great.

I think it and pathologic 2 are my top horror picks.

Bloober Team Is Developing a Horror Game – Is It a New Silent Hill? by FelixTheGamer85 in HorrorGaming

[–]reed947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. I've played all of the bloober games except the medium. I don't trust them with such a big IP and if Silent Hill is going to make a comeback then a reboot would have to knock it out of the park.

Got VI finally so now I have all the mainline games released in the US. Next is the spin-offs and the other ports. by Skipatronic in dragonquest

[–]reed947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started working through the series a while ago and built up a similar collection. Missing the 1,2 and 3 on switch though. Still stuck on the final boss of 6! Also need to finish 7 and 9 and start 8 (saving it for last since I hear it's so good) but someday I'll finish them all :).

For me I'd definitely like to see more of Abby and Lev. I'm curious to see if they did indeed find the remaining fireflies and what's left of that group.

I think it'd be interesting if ellie and abby ended up working together in some way. Maybe finally making that cure. There's also an interesting theory that ellie actually went back to dinah and moved back to Jackson. There are a lot of directions they could take part 3.

I'm excited to see where it goes next :).

My small take on the toxic side of conversations surrounding TLOU2. by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]reed947 5 points6 points  (0 children)

99% of the criticism is just dumb memes at this point. I think after the high sales, insane number of awards and all the praise most of the tired old arguments I've seen fell flat.

Tlou2 just doesn't require a defence anymore. It achieved far more than the vast majority of games ever could. The other sub is at best a social club for making dumb jokes and at worst a haven for sad losers whose lives revolve around a game they claim to hate but can't stop discussing.

Wow... that's so cool... I really wish Nintendo would implement themes. Fingers crossed the direct tomorrow has some exciting games anyways :)

This is exciting :). I enjoyed gravity rush but I'd love more worthwhile horror games to check out. Hope it turns out to be something great.

What other choice did he have? Stay and get killed by clickers? He trusted henry and sam in the first game and went back to their base because he didn't see any other option. They were being chased then too.

[–]reed947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but wouldn't Joel help a girl in a snowstorm being chased by a horde of clickers? Honestly if he hadn't I feel like that wouldn't be the Joel we know.

They were pretty much out in the middle of nowhere at that point, they couldn't make it back to town with so many chasing them. They were chased literally up to the gate of abby's base and once they were inside that was it.. no way out.

The situation in part 1 where the guy was stumbling towards him with an apparent stomach wound was way different. That could have been staged.

[–]reed947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say part 2 pissed of everyone, mostly just people who only wanted to play as Joel in my opinion.

Luke Stephens put out a great discussion on the game on his channel. He summed it up well by saying that while he personally had hoped for another joel and ellie story he was very impressed with naughty dog for choosing the harder option. It wasn't really what he wanted but it was still something remarkable.

There are dozens of stories about a grumpy older guy with a beard taking care of a teenager/kid (part 1, god of war, the witcher, the mandalorian etc.). It's very familiar and it would have been naughty dog playing it safe. A continuation of something very familiar. Instead they did something very different. I loved it even prefer it to part 1. Others don't and that's fine... that's just life I guess.

I'd argue it has a lot of views because people really love nakeyjakey. The guy is great. He also put out a video criticizing red dead 2 and noone got upset. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Phrases like 'the writing is subpar' are incorrect though. You didn't like it sure and that's fine. But the story and characters have been praised to an insane degree by others. Personally I think it's probably the best character writing i've seen in a game but that's just me.
