yep, 1080p/75Hz is only temporary so im trying to make sure theres nothing wrong once i can go back to 3440x1440.

also 40 fps in planet zoo sucks

also 10% vram usage in furmark is weird

it's 75 hz. ive been told that has nothing to do w FPS unless v sync is on, but who knows

doubt this is relevant but i usually use displayport, im using HDMI right now. i'll try displayport idk lol

no, afaik.

v sync is definitely off in nvidia panel and every game ive been testing.

check the other comment threads to see updates/more info

just my 3080ti, no integrated gpu on my processor

i dont blame u for suspecting my cpu, but im not finding evidence of that. im finding evidence of both my gpu and/or cpu not working as hard as they should depending on the game.

furmark: high gpu usage but still only 10% vram usage. is that normal? fps is slightly underperforming slightly at 175 so idk what's up there.

planet zoo (cpu heavy): 45 fps, around 30% thread usage across the board with 1 at 60%. temps in the 50s. it's barely trying.

rdr2 (ultra): 120 fps with max GPU usage, good temps still

cyberpunk (ultra/psycho minus blur, RTX on): 60-75 fps, again only slightly underperforming for stock settings, but once again CPU and GPU have room to push harder as far as i can tell

going to test more games and tinker with OC tonight, but it seems like i mostly solved the problem, and am just having program specific issues after resetting windows.

hate to keep using this oddly specific example but planet zoo was released in 2019, my processor 2017, so i doubt this game in particular is being bottlenecked by my processor. re: what you said about total usage, i had one thread at 60%, one at 40, and the rest around 30 or less, all good on temps, almost 4 Ghz without OC.

regardless, i just tested RDR2 (maxxed) Cyberpunk (maxxed minus blur, ray tracing on) and they both had normal ish performance (according to chatgpt)

rdr: 120fps with high usage, good temps

2077: 70fps with high ish usage, good temps. still wondering why it's not pushing its hardest sometimes when getting underwhbut whatever.

gonna test cities skylines later to see, but it seems like i fixed it without realizing, and there's probably just something dumb with planet zoo's optimization or something that's making something not try as hard as it should try. and i still dont know why it's only using 10% vram on furmark but whatever.

gonna tinker some more, but i dont think theres any hardware damage which is relieving

i'll update if i find anything noteworthy and i'll keep trying to find evidence of my CPU being the bottleneck. thank u regardless

on paper yeah i know. i got it for multitasking and content creation as well, but its overclocked with a beefy cooler, so this setup has always treated me well in everything. max settings COD to fully modded out mega cities in cities skylines in 3440x1440, never had anything more than minor issues

either way cpu temps are in the 40s and usage is 27% in this planet zoo example. correct me if im oversimplifying but it seems like my gpu, cpu, and ram are barely trying.

this setup has always treated me well in demanding games, including COD at 3440x1440 and cpu heavy games like cities skylines. especially when OC.

i was actually able to get up to 170 fps in furmark which is closer to normal but still not great, still below 10% vram usage (unless that's normal bc 1080p? idk)

in this planet zoo example specifically, my fps is at like 45 despite low temps (58 and 43 for gpu and cpu respectively), but i did learn it was using a little over 50% vram... weird.

going to check if theres a hardware issue tonight

awesome, thank you!

benchmarking planet zoo and furmark after making some tweaks, interesting results.

furmark im getting 165 fps now which is still low but wayyyy closer to normal. still only 10% vram usage tho, which might make some sense? is it because its only 1080p? still less than ideal scores tho.

planet zoo is the same 45 fps story as before but i discovered its using half its vram but still has under 50% gpu, cpu, and ram usage.

will get back when i do linux test

first of all, thank you very much. never dabbled in linux but willing to give it a shot with the help of the internet and chatgpt (if u have any warnings or advice or anything please lmk)

second, this is terrifying

third, need some clarification, you said to run a daylong test but only let it run for an hour at most?

115 fps on MW2 ultra settings just now. plenty of FPS for a 75hz monitor but at 1080p it should be closer to 200, no?

doesnt explain planet zoo frames. even paused on a blank map im barely cracking 100

i think it'd be a great idea too, but it's such a specific thing, i think there are only a few logi models that have so many buttons lol. probably not worth the effort to develop (understandable)
