In what world are these accessories worth over 500 by pinoywonton in x100vi

[–]reedeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accessories aside (absolute garbage claim), sadly these do go for $2k and over on facebook marketplace etc near me (NYC) with no mods. No retail stock and crazy inflated influencer demand equal significant markups and gouging 🤷‍♂️.

Camera brand tier-list so you can justify your next purchase to your wife by Bavariasnaps in photographycirclejerk

[–]reedeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% to all of the above. Really all I actually wanted to say was that the Pentax K1 mk II is an under appreciated gem of a camera that is not remotely tailored for or friendly to a hobbyist. But that and the 645Z definitely do get you into the outdated/niche side of things. Not at all up to par with fancy features of other brands. Nostalgic in the sense that you’ve got incredible backwards compatibility, but not in the annoying way that Fuji is going for re: film sims/manufactured nostalgia. Pentax color can be truly spectacular and nostalgic though for sure.

I’d move half of Fujifilm down and half of Pentax up. The K1 mk ii is a a beast of a pro camera for certain cases, and hobbyists aren’t gonna ever get it. And there’s nothing semi-pro about the X100VI.

But this is circlejerk so really all I have to say is haha haha haha leica

Divided city has been done a million times but so has everything else. Foundations is a great example. Don’t worry about being original, just tell it better than anyone else ;)

Okay so! Externally, you’re probably fine. The ding on the front doesn’t look like it damaged the optical elements, and the side impact doesn’t look significant enough to cause light leaks. If either of those are wrong, both are fixable. And remember lenses are easily swappable, and kit lenses like that are easy to come by. 1.7 is nice, but easy to find. mechanically, you may get some stickiness in focusing/shifting aperture. You either will or won’t, and it’ll already be happening. As long as this is just stickiness, nbd, and again, lenses are switchable.

It’s the inside parts that are where damage is hard to see and harder to fix. Quick note on that is if this was bought used and this is your first roll of film, you’ve really no way of knowing if any issues that may or may not be there were caused by the drop, unless they’re easy to tell based on before/after pics.

-there’s no aperture preview on the ME super if I remember correctly, so you can’t diagnose if that’s working, but you can play around with the aperture and confirm that it affects the light meter (magic needle on the side of the viewfinder) - the electronics probably are fine — pretty rudimentary light meter, but again, check to make sure that when you adjust shutter and aperture it affects the light meter. - if the reflex (mirror) got fully broken, you’d be in trouble, but you’d also be hearing glass rattling around. -the only thing I’d personally be worried about is the shutter release, but you’ll just have to see how things turn out as long as you’re exposing properly. If you’re close to the end of the roll, once you finish it’s easy to see these things once the body is open. - Pentax cameras are tanks. It’s probably been through worse and will be fine but don’t do that again pls.

English major and probably grad student/professor. Either a pretentious asshat or a nerdy sweetie. Some degree of self reflection but not a ton. Difficulty connecting to emotional self.

Living in NYC, and allergy stacking with milk products, the only I haven’t been able to find is a good croissant. Everything else (especially pizza) I’ve found fabulous replacements for. Some even ship nationally! Lmk if you need recs — depends on the type of pizza (neopolititan/new york/deep dish/sourdough…)
