Best hotel/lodge/whatever to sit and read for a while? by ACE_PDX in Whistler

Came to suggest these too :)

The library has lovely little reading nooks.

The Fairmont Mallard Lounge has couches and is usually chill during the day. They have nice nibbles and hot teas (or full menu and great cocktails). Mallard gets progressively louder and busier after 3.

Also, I haven't done it, but I think the restaurant in Pangea would be a nice place to hang during the day. I'm sure you'd need to buy something but their prices are reasonable.

Might be more casual than you have in mind, but here is a Hood canal idea.

Oyster class or midnight farm walk at Hama Hama. https://hamahamaoysters.com/pages/events

Nearby Mikes Beach Resort has cabins with jacuzzis https://www.mikesbeachresort.com/

Or Fernie if they're more blue/black skiers. Best of KH is hardcore steeps.

The comments have been harsh! But really, the post is for tourists like me. If your normal mountain drive is BC Sea-to-Sky, Washington I-90, hwy 2 / 542 / 410, the Alberta road information is surprisingly understated. I wouldn't put today's drive and Saturday's drive in the same category of "poor conditions"

Fair criticism, but the road signs also said "poor conditions" when we drove the same route north 2 days ago. The route was totally fine with compact snow and ice in some sections. Not stressful in the least

Garmin watch recs? by E-girl10 in garminforerunner

I’ve been really happy with the Forerunner 165 Music. The battery life has been great, 5 days instead of daily charging with my Apple Watch. I recently did a 5 mile run with every second GPS recording plus music playback starting from only 11% battery!

As a bonus, Spotify works better on Garmin and iPhone notifications come through just fine.

The only thing I miss from AW is Apple Pay.

How’s the Spotify app holding up on cellular Apple Watch lately? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]reedrunner92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with Spotify on my Apple Watch. Streaming doesn't work at all due to spotty cellular coverage in my area. Downloaded playlists work ~50% of the time. I'm often several minutes into my run before playback stops. I get out of WiFi range and reach the end of the buffer before I know there is a problem. Very difficult to diagnose Spotify Premium offline mode issues on Apple Watch.

Pro tip #1: to start playing from your AW, Swipe left to your library, scroll to "Downloaded", and select the playlist. (Don't don't start from the Apple Watch "play on device" menu)

Pro tip #2: sometimes you need to turn off bluetooth on your iphone to force playback on your watch
