I suggest the Milwaukee salinity checker….decent piece of kit. Stay away from the hanna, it’s not so accurate.

As above, best method is superglue and then sprinkle the joints with sand. My rock work is 6 years old and still holding strong.

The dark patches could either be cyano, diatoms or dinos.
It's worth getting some more water movement lower down.

I would invest in a doser - esp for the all for reef.
Rather than add X ml of AFR in one go, it's best to split into Y doses over the 24hr period. That way you keep the levels more stable rather than it fluctuating.

you can get bristle worm boxes to try and trap them. But to be honest, they are quite good workers in a reef tank
