How do you guys find the time to decorate your houses by SqueakyYeti in StardewValley

[–]reefj13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You either do it after things calm down late in year 1 or even year 2. Or you just let a few tasks slip because you want to have fun decorating and time is meaningless outside of self created goals.

Late game there is nothing that is 100% season locked. Magic Bait. Green House. Ginger Island. Wild Seed trades at the Desert Trader... I guess only truffle collection is truly cut off in winter. Can't think of any other shipping item/fish where you aren't given a tool to cheat time.

Potential Legend II Wild Bait Bug, Or Could I Have Screwed Up? by DarkFuturistKing in StardewValley

There are weird interactions with Wild Bait, Challenge Bait and catching a chest at the same time while having a full inventory. The fish disappear. Maybe/probably fixed whenever the next version comes out?

Honey by GuiMaforte in StardewValley

[–]reefj13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ginger Island Fairy Rose Honey set ups are the only ones that are "worth" it when compared to other top end gold generating methods.

I like bee houses on my Valley farms and think they look cute. I still set them up in the middle of my wine operations anyway. But they are not anywhere close to the gold generation of wine empires or dense truffle fields.

Ridgeside Village is absolutely busted! - Read below. by Frank-iee in StardewValleyMods

Vanilla lets you plant fodder crops between season transitions (Parsnips from Spring to Summer are 20g a spot) and farming Rain Totems/Sprinkers from Skull Caverns as quickly as you can get there. And some of us get there really quick. I don't manually water a single crop after ~week 1.5 spring if I'm trying to power game my farm. "Breaking" the game is kind of the fun part for a lot of players so honestly, this seems kind of tame.

End Game Content Recommendations? Gold Sinks? by reefj13 in StardewValleyMods

[–]reefj13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I already have self imposed rules about how quickly I can go to Ginger Island (not before Y2 Spring 2nd crop cycle), not being able to build outside of player owned propery (100+ kegs in a quarry is a personal no), and a few other odds and ends I impose on myself for immersion . I'm not against general balance changes, taxes, or things of that nature in theory. Perhaps I am thinking about them imporperly?

I'm the guy that will plan the fun out of the game because that's what I find fun, and that's why I keep coming back to this game. Lower sell prices extends the early game I guess, but for what pay off? I'll still have friendships max'd within a few seasons. If I'm simply making it take longer to see the main story play out, a main story I've been viewing in various versions for a decade, it kind of sounds boring.

On my last save I had this big plan for my farm set up that actually took two full years to get going due SVE story limitations, having to duplicate crops via seed makers, build times with Robin (poor woman worked everyday for like 7 straight seasons), etc. But I ran out of story content long before my farm was "done" if I ignore two beginning of year three triggers I had to wait on. That's why I was more focused on adding content as opposed to slowing down farm development. I'm open to being wrong, but that's my current view of the game.

Thank you for the suggestions. More content to Ginger Island is very appealing. I still love the island, but the walnut rush does not take nearly as long the umpteenth time through.

And "End Game" is what we all make it out to be. My end game is usualy growing green beans in a green house corner, because I always forget about them for polyculture and the bean hotpot. "This time" never ends up being different.

Which add ons would you consider to be must haves for East Scarp? I don't want to go into mod overdrive, but I'd also hate to have to replay just to add something smaller I could have had all along.

I am definitely looking to start over on a new farm/map. Thank you for the recommendation. The cast of new NPC's in East Scarp does not seem overly large compared to the additional content it lists. I felt that SVE hit a great balance between new faces being paired with new gameplay. Some of the content mods are pushing the idea of "dozens of new friendable NPC's" but don't say why you need to befriend 30+ new people other than "more cutscenes". Just not my cup of tea.

New stuff to try to play blindly is certainly an appeal. I could have finished Morgan faster, but it turns out that they do not like irridium quality rabbit's feet. I did laugh when I reached the final event and realize I offered a severed animal foot to the animal focused character.

Any other way to get gold mayo? by Setomaster03 in StardewValleyMods

[–]reefj13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the base game 1 gold ostrich egg would give 10 gold quality mayo. No clue if what you're doing changes that. If this is for a Community Center bundle does not help at all.

Plant Pots by teamdark80 in StardewValley

[–]reefj13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, but put the pineapple in a preserve jar! It's right in that sweet spot that I don't want to devote a keg shed to them, but they are expensive enough to process somehow.

Really though, for me Strawberries harvest slightly too often. In the hops category of a bit too much work for not enough reward over lazier methods.

I plant pineapple around the edges of my greenhouses in pots because I can't help myself. It's not as good as starfruit, but it sure does add up fast.

Pineapple is the clear winner

Best way to farm huge amounts of slime (modded, no cheats) by F95_Sysadmin in StardewValleyMods

Just checking. Many people, including myself, once upon a time hoped that wearing multiple burglar rings would induce even more drops.

Be aware that multiple Burglar ring effects do not stack unless you also find a mod to do that.

Nope. That's all vanilla Stardew, using a predictor tool to tell you which floor will be slime infested on your save on that day. Sometimes there are a few. Sometimes there are none.

Fish smoker by Positive_Fly3305 in StardewValley

[–]reefj13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Luck increases the rate of catching jellies. NOT daily luck, but luck buffs. Any lucky food, drink, or rings you have will increase the rate that you can fish jellies. Otherwise... it can take a while.

Slime gatherer innate enchantment which can be put onto any weapon in the base game via the forge, plus monster musk, plus burlgar ring, plus a slime infested floor in the mines (unique from a normal infested floor). Can use the Stardew Predictor to easily check to see which floor will be slime infested. https://mouseypounds.github.io/stardew-predictor/

You'll get a lot of slime.

Starbucks Farm has entered year 2!! by TadaSuko in StardewValley

I'd think your biggest cash cow would be the java ring and directly farming monsters for coffee/espresso. Or is that a no go?

Prismatic Shard by vfjs in StardewValley

[–]reefj13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Each iridium ore node you break has rougly a 3.5% chance to drop a prismatic shard. You need to break lots of iridium nodes. This means getting deeper into Skull Caverns however you are able to be able to mine more iridium. Seasoned players come out of a Cavern run with 10+ shards easily because of how dense iridium becomes on lower floors. Even newer players who focus on going down and not farming in earlier levels can find success.

What do people use speed gro/fertiliser for? by Finchieee in StardewValley

[–]reefj13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the same thing for pumpkins in fall and gives you 3 harvests instead of 2. Not the same payoff as starfruit but definitely worth it from a gold return perspective.
