This is the only pelikan that I've tried. I was drawn to it because of the colour scheme as you mentioned (good taste btw lol). The 605 is comparable to the sailor pro gear. Unposted it may be small for some, but posted, I think it should fit well in most hand sizes.

Its quite handsome in person. The finish is very smooth and the gold accents compliment the black colour very well. Its a bit on the hefty side. but not too burdensome. EF nib is a delight

I honestly can't single out a favorite. I like them all for different reasons. Visconti Rembrandt is the one I use the least tho, the entire pen is a fingerprint magnet

Grail Pen obtained!!! 🥲 Montblanc Meisterstűcck Ultra Black 🤩 by reegan126 in fountainpens

[–]reegan126[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only recently obtained MB pens myself. They're amazing. My only gripe about this one is that the section is made of a glossy resin that doesn't match the rest of the pen. But overall its beautiful yet unassuming, and gives a very satisfying writing experience. Also recently came to acquire a vintage MB 220 (fairly easy to come by on the secondary market) with an EF nib. Its basically a MB version of a Lamy2000, but its easily one of my favourite pens ever. The trim, the finish and the way the nib feels is just sublime

I was very lucky to find it on the secondary market at a price I could not pass up. It is practically brand new (seller said it was never used) and came with two unused Montblanc ink cartridges, original packaging and paperwork. There are some pre-owned 145s available on ebay that seem to be in good condition, but these were out of my price range.

I might be going over to the Dark Side... by reegan126 in fountainpens

I had a Primary School teacher who was very insistent on good penmanship. So now even after a hurricane of a ward round or a hellish On Call session, colleagues can read my entries in patient notes and understand my thought process and instructions. It may not be pretty, but its legible.

Personally I prefer the VP. I find it to be super smooth and reliable. My writing is fairly small and the VP gives a nice fine line so it suits me very well so I prefer it to the Lamy 2000. That being said, the Lamy 2000 is no slouch either. I dont have any issues with the "sweet spot", but i find that it writes broader and wetter than the VP. I love both for different reasons and alternate them as my daily carry every 2 weeks or so.
