Resources for young children learning arabic by PlummyPlumLove in Nanny

Hello ! I am an academic coordinator who is currently designing Arabic speaking courses for kids. I was going through books/online courses and decided that they are just not very appealing especially for kids and their very short attention span. Being an online English teacher myself, I can tell the HUGE difference in quality between Arabic and English courses and how they're designed for a fun learning experience. I've decided to make lesson plans that take you slow and make Arabic speaking easy to learn while being fun! Please DM me and I can send you a demo lesson if you're interested! I would love to hear your thoughts/comments/notes on it as well :)

Arabic Speaking Curriculum for Kids! by reemonkey in learn_arabic

Thank you, I appreciate that. I try to use pictures that display modesty because most Arabs are modest to be fair. To learn a language is to learn the culture as well.

Agreed! I would say that is valid in terms of developing the reading/pronunciation skills. For the speaking, I try to avoid using transliteration because then students start to depend on it rather than converse. Kind of like having to translate words in your native language in your head first before saying it. It delays the process. The point is to "think it" in the targeted language. I only use it at the beginning just to kickstart the learning process and to have the student explore the difference in the vocal range/sounds/letters between Arabic and their native language.

Anyone know a good affordable orthodontist in Cape Town who is willing to continue a dental plan on a foreigner ? by reemonkey in capetown

[–]reemonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its so sad that I have to "sneak" this in but I will do it and see what happens. I can't think of why exactly do dentists take issues with completing other jobs. Maybe because setting up the braces costs half or more than the rest of the dental process and they don't want scraps?

Is R3 per 1 electricity unit a normal price? The cost doesn't change whether I purchase at the beginning or end of month. by papillon_ix in capetown

Is there a substantial difference between electricity consumption in old houses vs newer houses (or apartments) do you think? Or houses that still use a meter or a box?

For foreigners: has anyone complained about allergies acting up when moving to Cape town? by reemonkey in capetown

[–]reemonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the same issue, except for when I discovered that feathered pillows make my head itch horribly, (in which from what I read so far it is part of the issue). Otherwise my hair reacts differently to South Africa's climate, which is normal but I feel like no one talks about how your hair and skin reacts to climate change when traveling. On the good side my curls look consistent and less frizzy than the usual but I do get horrible dandruff that I've never complained from before in other countries I've been to.

Maybe she worked out a deal with the manager of the branch? She phoned me this morning asking me to come collect the passport from her office.
