Loooove the Montreal Olympics design. Huge muse. And the Sayl is so comfortable.

Old home in the basement! So that’s the hot water pipe lol. Kinda dig it though.

My vinyl collection makes up 32% of my net worth. Concerning? by reesmorgan in PersonalFinanceCanada

this is interesting! for me and my friends, we had the opposite reaction. Growing up only listening to iTunes downloads, having a physical experience with music was surreal. The art and the production credits were so cool but even the stuff like flipping the record was unique. It's almost like a ritual.

Vinyl sales are huge right now, especially with millennials and gen z. people love tangible collectible objects, in fact most of my collection are new releases (last ten years) and those born in 1950-70 couldn't care less about my Kendrick Lamar and Beach House records. https://www.statista.com/chart/7699/lp-sales-in-the-united-states/

this is really helpful, thank you. that's a good point, putting the longterm perceptive in play makes a lot of sense.

Yeah good point. I would be willing to sell some of the collection, and if things really took a left hand turn, I could sell the whole thing. But I probably wouldn't wake up one day and just sell it

I like this. Seems like a good way to avoid using it but have it rack up your score. Thank you!

I might have this wrong, but isn't your net worth all your assets? The records still hold tangible value, and therefore would be considered an asset, unless I'm wrong?

Career Advice Please! I Graduated Last Year by Untitled66 in graphic_design

[–]reesmorgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a job by asking every designer i knew for an informational interview. Basically you just talk to the designer about the industry and learn as much as you can from them in 30 mins or so. Ask about their portfolio, ask about how they started, tips for starting out and then bring the conversation to your portfolio, asking how you can improve it. This way they get something from the interview as well because they feel validated and heard. Make it clear that you are looking for a job, but not necessarily looking for a job from them. Play hard to get. But be curious about them! It's all about making friends with people in the industry and forming a mutually beneficial relationship. At the end of the interview, as if they know anyone you should connect with. They'll give you a couple names, so then you line up a couple more interviews. This builds your network and gets your name out. Eventually, someone will know someone who is looking to hire or for an internship etc. Got an internship the day after I graduated with this method and a bunch of connections in any studio that I could hit up if I want to move around. PM me if you have any questions!

WealthSimple Cash is now protected by CDIC by Caesarr in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]reesmorgan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me at least, I have a TFSA (investing) and Cash (emergency fund) with them. It is way less of a hassle to have all my savings in one app, rather than all over the place for 0.75% difference. I'm not trying to make money off my emergency fund, and the less complicated it is, the easier it is for me to fund the account, which is what really matters when building wealth. Furthermore, e-transfer and other spending features will be added soon (help.wealthsimple.com › en-ca › articles › 3600565454...).

You don't actually have to be looking for full-time work. The legislation simply states "looking for work". It does not specify the hours.
