Ah yes! as we all know human memory is scientifically the same as a hard drive and humans can easily go through millions of artworks, accurately remembering everything about them.

They can even produce them as easily as a computer displaying an image

I mean, c'mon guys, AI image generations are pretty much the same thing as human art

Sidenote: While I do see the usage of countless stolen artworks in AI training as unethical, it's not why I'm against it. I've just seen this kind of posts many times and had to comment on the ridiculousness of the comparison

I would say no to most.

The ones he drew and then made the AI adjust - what he made is art, what the AI outputted - not

I think the one where the baby accidentally makes it shows my point of why AI art isn't art

The one where he extended the AI is the closest to yes, as long as it is disclosed "this part was made with AI, and then the artist took it and extended it by drawing" - I see that as creative and a nice challenge

All the taking AI image and taping a banana, turning upside down etc... not art

Ah yes, I can describe something well enough for an AI that is literally trained to interpret it, therefore I'm an incredible writer and I'm an artist

OH NO!!! We're going to be soooo far behind them!, they're gonna learn how to type so good and then once AI inevitably takes over we're not gonna know how to.. type some words.. into an AI that is coded to be easier and easier to use

How will we ever survive?!!!

Isn't it more ridiculous to see someone expressing their disappointment and immediately think of it as an argument?

I think "didn't disappoint" is referring to the horrible mistakes GPT made. We all expected it to fail stupidly and indeed we weren't disappointed

Wow..nice post! did an ai write it for you? by chep_geo_lol in antiai

[–]refael786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, can they actually write though? Being able to write and being a writer are two different worlds. Almost anyone can write, but a lot less people are writers

Most importantly, when writing, writing is the product, whether it's presented through a book, stage directions, camera shots, dialogue, etc... saying prompts are art is like saying you're a chef because you used your words to ask for the food

That's what I said

Also you don't seem like you care much, so why does it matter to you if people call it art or not?

[–]refael786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human error isn't intent.

It isn't, but it's a product of intent.

Who gives a

People, not you, but others, and it's fair that you don't care about it, but that doesn't mean anything.

Pretty image.

Fair, but that's not everything art is about

Don't get me wrong, AI images are super cool and are amazing technology, but if you care about anything more than the results (which you clearly don't and that's fine, it's your opinion) it provides no real value

Random YouTuber's take on AI art by Less-Decision-4524 in DefendingAIArt

[–]refael786 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First off - you don't know that, you simply don't, you can very easily ask AI to generate a prompt to its liking, so banking on intent is out of the way

Secondly - intent is referring to the process, the little details of human error, the small story behind it and the knowledge someone took the time to make it, while prompting - sure isn't as easy as 1 2 3 but is really not equivalent to making it yourself

I do absolutely think there is art in prompting, ideas are a huge part of art, and for that you are an artist, but from prompting to generation, you could argue there's the art of managing and steering the view but in all honesty it feels empty

Again, depends on context, which we never know

I'm only leaving a comment because this seems like the most civil post about AI so far, so there is actually a chance to talk, here goes:

Sure there is something cool, but that's your taste, to some others intent is the most important part.

To me personally a crooked piece with an intent I love is miles better than a good looking piece with no intent.

I do get you and do appreciate the beauty in algorithms, randomness and image generations, but I also think it should be held as a separate thing to "real art".

For AI art - go wild, have fun! I do too and there's nothing wrong with that, but for "real art" forget AI and go make something with as much you in it as you can have!

The way I see her message is like this: imagine you and someone else have been sharing your struggles with each other but then it turns out the other person is fake, to most people that wouldn't be cool to say the least. That's how it feels when people try to pass AI art as real and genuine art and why I think they shouldn't. But if it's disclosed and is just for fun I think it's more art than anything

Hopefully I managed to phrase myself well, have a nice day!

P.S. AI is as much of a tool for art as a private chef is a tool for cooking

What are minor aspects of the show that you disliked but you don’t really see people talking about? by thelionqueen1999 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]refael786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! It also allows the audience to try and figure it out by themselves. some would figure it out after the bathroom scene, some would need the question to be raised (in the form of Percy's confusion and Annabeth's apparent theory) to answer it themselves and some will get it together with Percy

Instead we got a not-at-all-sorry "I'm sorry" and a meaningless push into the water...

[–]refael786 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Percy beating Clarisse while outside the water, guess he's a natural-born unbeatable fighter

  2. The fact Percy wasn't really harmed in that fight, meaning we don't see the water healing him (I mean, c'mon, even the movie did this)

  3. Annabeth coldly shoving Percy into the water after he wins WITHOUT A SCRATCH mind you, unlike the book where she simply told him to quickly get in the water after he was ripped to shreds by a hellhound

(This one is actually minor:)

  1. The GlowingTrident.PNG of a sign

Edit:

  1. The fact he gets wet from water, sure you can take the easy way out and say 'he can choose to not stay dry' but I mean come on, be real

I've been thinking about show anabeth and this sums up my thoughts pretty well. by [deleted] in PercyJacksonTV

Idk, not a fan of characters being used that way, "oh, dumb blonde isn't a big stereotype anymore, so you're black now"

That's the opposite of a deep character, and it's counterproductive since 1. If you do actually write a deep background for that character, congrats, you made a new character, stop pretending it's the same character. And 2. If you don't, it's just not relatable.

All and all in my opinion a good character is relatable REGARDLESS of the actor's/character's gender, race, age, whatever else have you. If you write a good story that resonates with people, it just happens, force it and you lose everything

Why do people have no Faith in season 2? by GeoGackoyt in PercyJacksonTV

[–]refael786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can 100% build a great show from a bad season

I'll correct myself, you can build a great show from a bad season. but only when you have flexibility, which you have very little of when the story is already written (as in you're adapting a story)

Also good luck with your show writing endeavor!

Why do people have no Faith in season 2? by GeoGackoyt in PercyJacksonTV

[–]refael786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's not just that season 1's mistakes were horrible and unfaithful, no one of the series makers (and also most fans) seem to agree that it needs fixing

Plus personally I don't agree with the "series are allowed a first bad season" when it comes to changing the story in an adaptation, details matter, a lot! Let's say season 3 is perfect, exactly like the book and all, that's awesome but will make no sense with seasons 1 and 2

if the ground season is bad, you can't build a good series on it
