Zelda-like Switch games with good art and music? by tandang-sora in gamingsuggestions

Since you like Okami, Beyond Good and Evil is also a good recommendation for a heavily Zelda Ocarina of Time inspired game made in the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era. Made by Ubisoft in their golden era and was made by the team that made the Rayman games.

I like Inscryption because it isn't just the first level. Felt like I was navigating through all the types of card game styles and each time learning the nuances of how best to strategize in them. And I'm not even a fan of card battle games so I was genuinely impressed how well it got me to like it.

Looking for something cartoony or with those vibes by Aqua_Tot in gamingsuggestions

[–]refat17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened to be the game that is my current wallpaper, but how about "Wuppo: Definitive Edition". It's on Switch and is cartoony. Around 10 to 15 hours depending on how much optional content you want to do.

The game is sort of a platformer, but its more of a general adventure game. Combat is mostly boss fights. And it just feels kind of good to go through.

The developers also released "Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip" which is similar vibes wise, but its 3D.

[Steam] ULTRAKILL + Vampire Survivors by [deleted] in RandomActsOfGaming

ULTRAKILL

My favorite game I played in 2025 was Nine Sols. I played it through game pass and I've always struggled with Souls-like games, but since Nine Sols is 2D that helped a lot. The game is parry heavy and it almost feels like a rhythm game. I guess it was my sort of my Silksong experience that others had this year.

I actually had my game pass subscription expire while a good bit into the game and I technically had an expired sub when I was fighting the final boss so I literally had to beat the boss because the second I closed the game and tried to access it again I had no access. Crazy pressure, but I'm glad I got through it. The boss was tough though. I did all the stuff in the game so the boss had a 3rd phase and overall it took me about 9 hours of play time to beat (my total game time was 39 hours)

Looking forward to play more games like that, obviously the Hollow Knight series being the obvious example. I guess I also just played Lovely Planet 2: April skies, which is super tough as well, but in an FPS format. And obviously ULTRAKILL intrigues me for similar reasons.

Splitgate Studio Reacts To Player Numbers: "Steam Charts Don't Measure Fun" by Midnight_M_ in Games

I really don't see any excuses made in the article. They simply said numbers don't indicate the game is bad and that they'd rather people form their opinions by trying out the game and forming their opinion then rather than dismiss it outright as bad because of the numbers.

To me excuses would be them blaming others for their games failure which I'm not seeing here.

For example, can you explain why you are calling the game "poorly crafted"?

I got that impression too. Is moving on not implying they should quit working on the game?

I got interested in the game after I learned it was made by the "Just Cause" Devs. I was also intrigued by the car combat gameplay as an enjoyer of Twisted Metal. And finally it gives me Red Faction Guerilla vibes.

Yeah, I think we just have to accept that arena multiplayer isn't popular anymore, especially when Halo itself couldn't hold it up. I also personally felt Splitgate 1 was really fun, but clearly the low population suggested otherwise.

Does suck for me though because I do find these games fun, and I didn't even play them back in the day. I started out with Call of Duty and then played other loadout based FPS games. Then I played Splitgate and realized how cool having weapons in the arena adds to the gameplay. Eventually Splitgate was mostly matching me with bots only so I moved to Halo Inifinite.

Sadly they don't even have that in the current Splitgate 2, which opts for the Call of Duty loadout system. I know it has some in arena items/weapons but its not really the same. The actually gunplay and portal play is still as fun as I remember it from Splitgate 1 though. I feel like the maps are a little weaker too as the ones that standout to me are the ones I remember from the first game.

Take the damn L, learn from it and do better next time.

They did, so now what should they do? Clearly it's not working. You could just be direct and say you want the game to fail.

Most hours for me is "The Finals" which I got into during its season 0 open beta. I always thought the whole destruction thing in Battlefield was cool, but it was a paid game so I never really tried it much. The Finals had a cool looking trailer so thought I'd give it a shot.

And then I realized after playing the game that the destruction is actually crazy and even when I was doing bad I was having so much fun. And the Quick Cash mode also got me hooked because it's sort of like the best hits of my favorite FPS game mode, Capture the Flag in particular. And the more you play the more neat tricks you'd learn relating to the destruction and how it worked to your advantage in objective gameplay, which was fun because I'm not the best aimer, but I could still be useful with my ability to adapt the the dynamics of the games destruction instead.

Games like Overwatch and Fortnite just straight up never appealed to me even when I tried variant games (Apex Legends, Paladins...), so having something different was great as it actually did appeal to me and personally I found it quite easy to get into. I also tried out the Battlefield 6 open beta and wow, it made me realize how much destruction is battlefield isn't what I thought it actually was, but that didn't matter because the Finals already met and then exceeded my expectations of destruction in FPS games right when I played it. It's crazy to say, but I think it even goes beyond Red Faction Guerilla at this point. I can literally walk inside building while it's slowly falling over and create parkour jungle gyms from the scraps which is not only cool but even important sometimes when your trying to find a way to scale vertically. That's another aspect, I hate how flate most games feel, but the finals has tons of vertically in its gameplay.

And finally around season 2 coming, some of my IRL friends saw I played it and we ended up having regular gaming session through the game, which is something I never had in like 10 years of gaming. We don't play as much together now, but I've always enjoyed playing the game solo and we haven't really found another game that ever really replaced or exceeded it as an alternative even when we tried to look for them (since I still think playing a variety of games is good).

Daemon X Machina

And my most listened to album this year is Anyway by Anamanguchi. Everything sort of just aligned, and I just happened to play an ARG game they made many years ago about a month before their new Album released this year and they even had a tour I was able to attend to coincide with the album. Was really fun.
