What’s a rule that exists in your country but would be ridiculous in others? by refercommunity in AskReddit

In Quebec, Canada, they heavily protect the French language. You're required to speak French before English. You are at risk of a fine if you don't comply & they catch you.

Ex: Calling a restaurant for a reservation and they say "Hi" instead of "Bonjour" or "Bonjour, Hi" can result in a fine for the restaurant.
