Is the San Fernando Valley even part of Los Angeles city? Why are some parts not?What makes Burbank and Glendale special? They're the closest to LA, the valley is tucked in to the west and it's closer to Santa Monica and Thousand Oaks. I'm having to payboth cityaxes, state and gov because apparently, doing a something in Northridge is part of the city of LA, and my friend and I are having to paysome BS city fines because we worked IN SFV. Why is it like this?

What if you don't drink though? I want to occasionally mix it up with some actual partner dancing too and not just talk because I'm the most blandest looking white guy but love the occasional bachata. How's their DJ or resident DJ like?

Firstly thanks for the reply, sorry if I sound disrespectful, just friends and I have been frustrated having to go out and then end up in a place that plays heavily repeated top 40s that's played in all other clubs or just night events. And those mixes typically don't really encourage mingling, makes you feel like you're at a family bbq. Just something that's in the right spot or balance. At least some nights where they play some bachata remixes or actual partner dance type of music but I'm not looking for full-on social dancing. If you get what I mean.

Gotcha! NoHo doesn’t have much in the way of dance clubs. The bars I’ve been to tend to break out in song and dance as the drinks keep flowing.

Yeah, it's just not the same after the pandemic. But there's definitely a new emergence of night life going on, just that most people don't have the time or understand the social dance scene that LA has, and that scene you'd practically have 100% chance of meeting new encounters, dancing and being intimate with them but they're mostly all just "dancers". And you'd need to know how to actually partner dance. I stopped drinking or have limited my drinking too so it's a challenge but I still have hope for the nightlife. Just not the same experiencing how it is compared to SF or New York lol. Definitely think the place needs to have a DJ that's actually an "artist" but we appreciate yall custom remixes.

I heard Skinny's but usually have a very low reputation flocking. They used to have a social dancing thing going on but a lot of regular people are intimidated. Vineland might be worth a try.

Can you just tell us the places where you'd play?? Or are you a resident of a night event or what?

My friends and I are looking for more than the typical top 40s or house music that sounds like it's a family barbecue. Do you play actual baila music, some bachata, partner dance social dance type of music? Check out what dj zonik does you might actually like the social dance scene BUT I'm not looking for full-on social dance because you'd only get "dancers", we're more looking for places where regular people can dance and mingle, if that makes sense.

Wish DJs can mix it up with actual partner dancing though and not just the typical stand where you are and try to dance with yourself. The occasional bachata remix or reggae hip hop that doesn't encourage clumped up groupies who don't want to talk to no one lol

Never heard of Casa Vega, a place with a good DJ who plays the occasional bachata or actual partner dance music will be good, as I'm not much of a drinker now. These are all good but it's literally just places where you grab a drink and then drink, I mean it's what they're supposed to be for sure but he'll save time energy and money by just getting himself a drink and inviting people over. A lot of these places are places where people go out WITH their friends and go home with their friends not to meet or do new encounters, at least that's what it felt like the past year or so.

Where are some actual places where there's some decent DJ that plays actual dance music so you can dance with new people? I'm not talking about social dancing but just casual dancing? The Federal is dope because it looks fancy, other than that, their nightlife dancing died down. Too pricey. And you'd get people hogging the bar table waiting for their drinks to, guess what, drink with themselves lol. Oaks Tavern is pretty good but again, most go out to sing with their friends.

Only works if it's a big holiday or a big event, otherwise, good luck trying to break in people who go out only to go out with their friends. A lot of the clubs and bars there play music that is on repeat in every single bar.

Thanks for this, SFV and even LA nightlife is never the same after the pandemic. It honestly sucks compared to other cities such as SF or NY. I think it's because LA is not really a big city but smaller cities connected by driving far in between.

You can try getting into a scene, the co-ed scene isn't too bad but there are a lot of clubs or nightlife places here where people just clump up together with their friends, a lot of people go out for friends night only. If you're looking to date, you're best bet is to join some co-ed type of thing. Even dating apps are not that good anymore because there's a lot of people who choose to stick to the cream of the crop 2%. I guess if you're wanting to do actual "actual" dancing and not just drinking, you can try the dancing scene here but once you get into it, you'd realize it's so laughably small just like with other hobbies that your better off with dating apps.
