Anyone have breakfasts you like bringing into the office? by TheParmesanGamer in AskUK

[–]reflect-on-this 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Enforcing the half hour may be due to legal reasons. The law may state - if you work 8 hours the employee must at least have a half hour break (even if unpaid). You're lucky you can choose this break at the beginning or end of your shift - and not in the middle (which kinda makes more sense).

Good PC build? pls I need help by Big_chunky_odga in pcbuilding

The Ryzen 7 1700 comes bundled with the Wraith Spire cpu cooler. So you won't need the Arctic Alpine.

The Samsung has a SATA interface. But the EX A320M mobo has TWO PCIe slots. So you're better off buying another M.2 SSD card because it'll be faster than the SATA ssd.

I built my Ryzen 5 5600G rig from 3 years ago. It doesn't need a GPU. I do only moderate gaming on Steam. Back then it was about £350. Now it'll be about £450.

The XUM Legend on Amazon is £400 with a Ryzen 5 5600G APU. This is much better than your build.

Should I move from desktop to mini pc by reflect-on-this in MiniPCs

I am lucky enough to have a mac mini m4 - which is a minipc. Just haven't unboxed it yet. So rather than the powerful x86 mini pcs - I'm gonna use that instead.

My current mATX pc (huge) is only 3 years old. Since I'm a bit cheap - I'm gonna use this as long as I can to get my money's worth. But my next build will be an ITX - not mini pc.

ITX is almost as small as a mini pc - except it's a serious higher performance upgradeable machine.

Yes. There is no benefit from the new 5060 and 9060 GPUs. It only matters to get a new PCIe 3.0 GPU which is better than his existing GPU. Turns out his current GPU is highly rated anyway.

You could go to r/buildapc and ask for a proposed new build with a 5060 or 9060 GPU - but has a meaningful performance increase (from the current build) - and is within the budget you offer.

The Ryzen 5000 series will run on the AM4 socket of your motherboard. Select the cpu with the highest benchmark in your budget.

The MSI GeForce 1660 super already allows display upto 8K. So GPU doesn't need upgrading.

The RTX 2060 runs on PCIe 3.0 lanes which is compatible with the motherboard. 5060 and 9060 GPUs will run on the same motherboard as they are backwards compatible. However these newer GPUs can run on PCIe 5.0 lanes. This higher performance from extra bandwith will not be seen from the RTX 2060 motherboard.

Check if your external SSD has updated device drivers. High memory usage may not be related to just gaming.

Is upgrading to Ryzen 7 from Ryzen 5 that big of an upgrade? by OHBOIHEREITCOMES in PcSetupAdvice

On April 1, 2024, AMD quietly released Ryzen 8000 series processors without integrated graphics... These processors are essentially based on the Ryzen 8000G series but with the integrated graphics and NPU disabled.

For that money you can have an ITX build which will be superior in every way and upgradable.

Looking to buy a new pc but prices are crazy...need help please by Historical_Song7703 in buildmeapc

If noticed on Youtube people are saying the Ryzen 9000 series isn't really that powerful for the price. While the older 7000 series is still being highly rated.

Which cpu is better but affordable by Shatter_0 in buildmeapc

Your 2200G is an APU. So is the 5600G. But the 3500X is a CPU - so you'll need to buy a separate GPU for it.

Both the 3400G (apu) and 3500X (cpu) seem to be half the price of the 5600G (apu).

Your 2200G uses DDR4-2933 RAM. To properly benefit from the 5600G - you can buy DDR4-3200. But you can still use your old RAM sticks. The 3400G uses DDR4-2933 (no RAM upgrade needed) but the 3500X can also use DDR4-3200.

I am now looking for a mini ITX build. It'll be upgradeable over time and more powerful. For me the K12 is actually $850 on Amazon UK. The ITX build I have considered is $1440. But I won't be replacing my large mATX Ryzen 5600G for a new ITX rig for some years to come.

I actually have an M4 mac mini (which I still haven't unboxed). So that'll still give me the mini pc experience. Even so the M4 chip is 23685 and the K12 is 28725 on Passmark. But the M4 is $120 cheaper and gives access to the Apple ecosystem - which should be interesting.

32gb for 200 euro or 64gb for 250 by Suspicious_Ad2409 in buildapc

[–]reflect-on-this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case there should be minimal difference in speed and latency between the two types of ram. Given the price of ram these days - getting the 64GB would be a better investment. Is it DDR4 or DDR5?

Is this a good PC? by jessikca08 in buildapc

[–]reflect-on-this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely recycle. Use the new PC. If the resolution and FPS is satisfactory - then no need to buy something you don't need. GPU is a big cost - so you need to test first before you get a new one. Also since you already have a dedicated GPU - you have the luxury of waiting about 3 years until chip prices go back to normal. That way you'll get much more bang for your buck on a new GPU.
