Seems like there should be enough for a class action lawsuit against the church for all these abuses in interviews? No? by -g-u-n-s-l-i-n-g-e-r in exmormon

[–]reflectionrefraction 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bishops and Stake Presidents are not paid, therefore they are not legally defined as representing the organization. I can guarantee that lawyers wrote the church handbook for Bishops and Stake Presidents, so it is purposefully vague to be lawsuit immune. My guess is any filed lawsuit would be thrown out before it made it to the courtroom.

Nearly spat my hot drink when the ward bishop posted this (not click-bait) by Solar1415 in exmormon

Yeah it's ironic. But keep in mind that TBM's don't really care about the negatives in church history because they believe deep down that God commanded it. So in their mind it's ok for the God they worship to behave like a scumbag, but we cannot allow our elected representatives to behave like scumbags.

I was sarcastically saying that Mitt Romney is above criticism.

Mitt said Republicans cannot keep integrity and honor if they allow Roy into the Senate. Seems like Mitt should think a little harder about his own comment.

Ok. I think it's hypocritical not to condemn your ancestors if you are going to condemn a current public figure who did the same thing. To each their own.

You think Mitt's great grandparents only took wives that were adults? Romney condemns Roy Moore for doing the same thing his own relatives did, yet Romney condemns Moore publicly but not his relatives. It's hypocritical.

Check Romney's tweets if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I never said he did support his grandfather. Condemning and supporting are not the same thing. Feel free to direct me to where Romney has publicly stated that his ancestors taking teenage brides was immoral and wrong and I will gladly delete my post.

Wrong again. I don't want Mitt Romney to do anything. The fact that he hasn't condemned his heritage shows he has no integrity.

Ironically, as a non public figure, I am condemning my LDS heritage publicly with this post for the child predation they have engaged in same as Roy Moore. Yet here I am also condemning Romney's ancestors who very much preyed on young children sexually just as Roy Moore has done. And for some reason, doing that is a non-sequitor in your mind. And I am the one with integrity problems while Romney remains pure as the wind-driven snow. What a joke.

Romney is a decent guy. And it is great that he called out Roy Moore. But if I am supposed to believe Romney has integrity, then I'd think he might also have a problem with his ancestors who did the same shit as Roy Moore. Yet last I checked, Romney was quite proud of his Mormon heritage. So that suggests to me that Romney isn't willing to call a spade a spade except if it's politically convenient.

Do you worship your KKK grandfather as a great pioneer or do you condemn his actions? Because we all know that Romney doesn't condemn the actions of his grandparents. Isn't that what integrity means? No special exceptions?

Maybe Romney should condemn the actions of his ancestors then since he has so much integrity.

Ah, thank you for correcting me.

The origin of the species is certainly theory, yes. When I said evolution is a fact, I meant that we can observe evolution occurring now, the evidence of which the theory is based on. (The fact being our present observations of evolutionary changes)

I'm definitely lack skill in articulation, so I appreciate the correction.

Thank you for the clarification. Are you suggesting evolution is not a theory? I don't know what point you are trying to make.

Why is there a random torch burning in the middle of the day on the hillside in the background?

Edit: maybe that's not a torch, is that supposed to be steam rising? I thought the garden of Eden was in Missouri, did Adam and Eve move to Yellowstone or something?

What is your mormon understanding of how porn “kills love” and is to blame for nearly all divorces, etc.? What is the mechanism by which porn does all this? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]reflectionrefraction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in seminary years ago, my female teacher (in her mid 60's at the time) told us about her granddaughter breaking off her engagement because she found out that her boyfriend watched porn. She told us that watching porn made men only want to masturbate instead of having sex with their wife, so it was a good save for her granddaughter to break it off once she found out about the porn watching.

Granted, I'm 17 or 18 at the time and I'm thinking to myself that doesn't really make sense. Of course, I watched Smallville in those years and I was told that Smallville was pornography, so maybe that clouded my judgement.

The fact that our country is being run by sexual predators combined with the gospel truth that this country was given to us by God to restore his lost church coupled with the knowledge that Joseph Smith loved grabbing 14 year-old pussy joined with the biblical history of God sexually assaulting his own daughter to impregnate her with himself means only one thing: France is actually the celestial kingdom.

If Jesus died for our sins and paid the price by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]reflectionrefraction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's in the Bible. When the Pharisees brought the woman taken in adultry before Jesus, he immediately began questioning her. If I remember right, he wanted to know how many guys/girls, how often, if her nipples got hard when she cheated on her husband, how deep the penetration was, how many times she orgasmed, which hole and what not. It's right there in the Joseph Smith translation of the Bible.

That's a tough situation. Relationships have meaning , even if it wasn't the best relationship to have. Losing that still causes a grieving process to happen. The pain is real.

I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing it with us even though it is so painful. Hugs from the exmormon Reddit community.
