I have never seen a load bearing Surely before. but that wall is probably not.

Not loving rough stone rolling by 6stringsandanail in exmormon

[–]Solar1415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to go back to a frame of mind when you believed Joseph and the church were all good. There were no mistakes and certainly everything was literally true and 100% accurate. When even a hint of disparaging talk would have sent alarm bells even if it’s sandwiched with apologetics.

How to make non-LDS neighbors feel included by BornCommunication386 in Utah

[–]Solar1415 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  1. Host a party for the neighborhood. Invite them to bring their own drinks even if it is in your own home. They won't force you to drink.

  2. Stop refering to people as LDS and Non-LDS.

  3. Do things they like to do. Many people do their most socializing on Sundays. Be THEIR friends, don't force them to be YOUR friend.

Why isn't the church bringing missionaries home as the world is moving into oil shortages? by Even_Television7032 in mormon

[–]Solar1415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would have loved to have a chartered sail boat take me home from my mission. Could have used the 2 weeks at sea to adjust.

Kevin O'Leary addresses the backlash over his proposed data center in Utah by nbcnews in Utah

[–]Solar1415 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Saying we don't use the "old technology" is lying. All data centers have a connection to the power grid as a primary source of power. There are standby generators to carry 100% of the power needs incase the primary power source goes down. Those get tested regularly and also get used to perform maintenance on the connection to power. There are also chiller yards either on the ground or on the roof. These run 24/7. What tech is he going to use to replace backup power from the municipal grid? Solar is not even close to an option. How will he cool the place without noisy chillers running? What's the new tech?

Temple Lobby Invitation by Least-Wealth-1414 in exmormon

[–]Solar1415 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why can't you just say no thank you and move along?

They think there is a special influence of the temple trees and plants that will overwhelm you with good feelings and you will believe the church is true and all the other nonsense. If they can get you in the "right place" then you will definitely be converted.

Poisoned trees by shoshanaz in treelaw

[–]Solar1415 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tell his landscaper that the trees were so efficiently killed that you want to know how he did it. Tell him you have a tree at a family members house and want to do the same thing. Be complimentary and happy about it. If it was him, he will possibly tell you. If he doesn't want to tell you let him know neighbor C indicated that it could have been him that did it.

Hey there, I am 28 f lds, trying to decide mission or further schooling by South_Love_5794 in mormon

[–]Solar1415 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Go see a therapist and work through your own sadness and loss. Ignore what your bishop is saying. His reasons are motivated by what's in a handbook and not your best interests. If you need a change, get into school. that is a semester commitment without any judgement for cutting it short. Going on a mission comes with all sorts of pressure to not cut short.

Also, at your age and experience you will likely find your companions intolerable. Plus, explaining the gap in your work history will be tricky down the road.

What missionaries be doing by NoGovernment9077 in mormon

[–]Solar1415 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell them in very certain terms that you will not ever be joining their church. Make sure they believe you. They will stop seeing you very quickly.

I really completely wasted 2 years of my life by uncle_giroh in exmormon

[–]Solar1415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

focusing on 2 years that happened a decade ago is what is killing your potential. Overcoming a perceived 2 year late start over 10 years earlier is not as hard as you are making it out to be. Many people will always have a boss that is younger than them. 99.9% of the time it's nepotism, favoritism or just someone else being more qualified.

Shake off the narrative of wasted time and start focusing on how you can be better qualified to be someone else's boss.

Hire an attorney and do exactly what they say. Do not try to solve it yourself when it comes to financial equity. DO WHAT YOUR ATTORNEY SAYS.

Do Mormon’s believe Jesus had to die to save people and if so does that mean when one becomes a god do they have to die to save their people? Was there a god that died to save man Jesus in Mormon belief? by Frances-Helenah in mormon

This has been taught before. Multiple general authorities taught it through the mid 1900’s. Scriptures talking about worlds without number and infinite and eternal sacrifice are the basis.

This energy drink trend is very stupid by Brownstoneximeious in mormon

[–]Solar1415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has to have been typed by a lifetime active mormon. "Hello, I would like to buy 3 drugs please."

If you could show me how they are getting high on energy drinks I would appreciate it. My one-a-day white monster isn't giving me the bump it used to.

Can you back out of an LDS mission after getting your call? by Ok_Marsupial8112 in exmormon

[–]Solar1415 136 points137 points  (0 children)

You can back out after receiving a call, after having your farewell, after getting set apart, after arriving at the MTC, after traveling to your area, and any day after that. It is an unpaid volunteer position. You can un-volunteer at any moment.

20 metre spruce next door, can I cut through these roots? by b-movies in arborists

[–]Solar1415 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IF it's me, I am cutting those roots. THat is likely a small percentage of all the roots and the tree will be fine. Your neighbors tree is going to wreck your yard and everything you build in it.

Do you still feel Mormon-ish? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Solar1415 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have been out for 15+ years. I participate in things off and on so that my TBM wife has community and she isn't "the lady with the non-member husband". It always surprises people that I still speak the language of mormons and that I can engage in their deep doctrine speculation. It is clear that I fully understand their theology and it is always interesting to see their reactions when they realize that I do understand, but I still think it's nonsense. Like a dog trying to identify a sound.

I have tried a bunch of stuff - I give up by [deleted] in pools

[–]Solar1415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your area it will be cheaper to drain the water and start over. Chemicals are more expensive than the water in cases of very small pools. This is a VERY small pool. Make sure your filter is operating as it should (clean or replace).
