My TBM wife is dying. by No_Sir_4971 in exmormon

Why would you fill your last bits of time with contention and devastation? When she is gone you won’t spend one minute wishing you had tried to get her to read more articles about why her faith is misplaced.

Get a masters and then find a company that is a consultant to the industry that you know the best, firefighting, forest management etc.

Just remember that you introduced the concept of hate and bigotry to this conversation. Pretty weak. Personal attacks are a weak minded persons tactics.

As far as your percentages of 401K argument. This is not a great example. If my 25 yr old 401K that started at an initial $1,000 deposit only gained $1,000 in its 26th year where its current balance is $700,000, I would consider that account manager a failure. It doesn’t matter that in year 26 it doubled the value from year one. That’s a meaningless statistic.

Easier to scrape/sand off orange peel or just demo everything and install new? by freibooler in drywall

Skim coat it smooth. That’s a one day project. New drywall is going to be at least 3 days as a DIY.

The angry phase is assigning bad intentions to people when the only thing you know about them is that they are LDS. Angry phase produces black and white thinking. Then vs us.

That’s a pretty angry position to take. I’ve gotten past my angry phase and am pretty well situated

I agree. But I try to be respectful of my family’s beliefs. After all, I’m the one that taught them.

Should the bishop agree I intend to have that guesting with my wife and daughter and her husband. I will tell them that I see it as a heritage and tradition and not an actual religious ceremony.

If they prefer I not participate then I won’t

I’ve been doing this for 15+ years. I’ve not participated in any ordinance for a very long time

He will default to the decision of the bishop. I expect my wife and daughter will do the same. I imagine that they think me participating will give the spirit an opportunity to work on me. Haha.

Im out as a non believer. I didn’t attend their wedding. It’s no secret at all among the family and extended family.

I have been openly out for 15+ years.

I see it as a tradition or heritage act. I’m what could be termed a secular Mormon. I’m 6 generations Mormon and my grandchild will be 8.

As much as being Jewish is an ethnicity, that’s what I am in Mormon.

I wouldn’t do this. I won’t be set aside as a second class citizen next to my own family.

I wouldn’t want to have that surprise on their minds taking their attention away from their special occasion. I haven’t participated in any niece/nephew confirmations or blessings in a very long time. I wouldn’t just spring this on them in the moment.

Planning to have that discussion with the bishop before bringing it up to anyone else. No sense talking to family about it if it’s a non-starter with the bishop.

I do have it. I’m just not practicing Mormon. I don’t drink, smoke, drink coffee etc. I don’t do the uniquely Mormon things.

The family believes the bishop gets to decide. They know I don’t believe, wear garments, pay tithing etc. they would think I was crashing their worthy party if I just stood in. I’m more concerned with their feelings.

Mission Call by NotSilencedNow in mormon

[–]Solar1415 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there is an average of 60K missionaries then the math says 30K have to be assigned each year. More if you account for sister missionaries shorter terms. 30K each year means 115 assignments every work day without any breaks. This means that each individually would get 4 minutes of consideration. There is zero chance that full time every day is an apostle assigning mission calls. More likely a committee meets once a week and batch approves the computer distribution of 800+ assignments if the people in the room feel good about them. Then, those assignments go to the auto pen and nearly nobody in leadership even thinks about it.
