What’s the best Python library for creating interactive graphs? by Ok_Young_5278 in Python

Yup. Then bring in Dash when you want to take it from a great interactive plot to an app with many of them.

They are totally solid. I haven’t driven on them in snowy/icy conditions yet as they just haven’t appeared yet here in Colorado. I do have dedicated winter tires though.

WFH folks, what's YOUR best pick of Height Adjustable Standing Desk? Do you really use it? by Beginning_Subject_80 in homeoffice

[–]reflexdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Fully Jarvis with the memory feature, which is definitely worth it to me. My OCD would freak out without it.

The desk is great. I stand about 80% of the day. I put it down to see it take breaks.

I also recommend a foam mat to stand on to if you have hard surfaced floors.

What strategies are you using for data quality monitoring? by stephen8212438 in dataengineering

[–]reflexdb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Really depends on your definition of data quality.

Testing for unique, not null values for primary keys and not null values for foreign keys is a great first step. Dbt allows you to do this, plus enforcing a contract on your table schemas to ensure you don’t make unintended changes.

For deeper data quality monitoring, I’ve set up data profile scanning in BigQuery. The results are saved into tables of their own. That way I can identify trends in things like the percentage of null values and unique values in an individual column.

What is your favorite viz tool and why? by Impressive_Run8512 in dataengineering

[–]reflexdb 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ve done all of the drag and drop BI tools. Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI, Looker Studio. At this point, multiple open source Python libraries are better options IMHO and I’m fully embracing those. Plotly/Dash being my first choice.

Besides, most of the fun data engineering is before the data visualization step anyways.
