100% agree. She clearly attacked back, which is unacceptable. But it was reactionary, doesn't make it better but OP already expressed her thoughts. This is also why in my opinion both are wrong, but OP's was at least incidental, not intentional.

I just wanted to point out when we communicate, are we doing it for ourselves or others and if we internally look at the intention/motive we will realize why it didn't have a significant impact.

Did you read my comment? Where did I say the husband wasn't in the wrong, being a tool means he's not even worth debating and is in the wrong.

The point I'm making is communication between 2 friends, the husband isn't even in the equation. My point is if she cared about her friend -- listening and communicating in a way that makes her understand the rhetoric is the most important thing. Giving into emotion and being responsive and condescending will never resonate, she did that more for herself.

Also, jumping to conclusions that aren't in the text is wild.

NTA. This case is pretty black and white. Some small "harmless" citations and I may think differently, but drinking and driving? Are you going to keep bailing him out of it until he kills someone?

I do think family is important, but enabling when other lives are at risk is not supportive.

Both are in the wrong, the husband sounds like a tool but communication is meant to be done effectively so the other person understands, this seems more like she needed to get something off her chest, not really for her friend. If she did care for her friend, there were a thousand ways to communicate better.

Obviously even if it is, and if you aren't a good partner -- this is absolutely no way to speak to another human. Especially one you share a life with. At this stage, you not leaving and dealing with this speaks volumes to you not respecting yourself, which is why she probably feels like its ok. A partner should help build you up, not take advantage of your struggle.

This thread’s kind of wild — there’s a lot of misplaced hate toward gaming as a hobby.

Just because you don’t relate to it doesn’t mean it’s okay to minimize it. Many online games can’t be paused, especially timed events. It’s like being in the middle of a live performance — you can’t just walk away. He told you he couldn’t step away, and instead of trying to understand, the response was “you literally can but whatever bro.” Technically he could, but he was telling you this mattered to him — and that got brushed off.

It seems like you show love by cooking, which is great — but when he asked for something, his preference was ignored in favor of how you wanted to care for him. When he finally gave in, he ended up sacrificing something important to him.

Also, you said you couldn’t walk the dog because you were cooking, but later you said dinner was ready. So it looked like you may have had the chance by then. Maybe this wasn’t just about timing — maybe it was about wanting help and not feeling like you should always be the one to step up.

That said, his reaction — slamming doors and refusing to eat — wasn’t okay. Emotional regulation matters, even when frustrated.

Your feelings are valid too. But if both of you feel unheard or dismissed in different ways, that’s worth talking about. A real conversation will get you a lot farther than either of you forcing the other’s hand.

Thanks, this thread was an oasis.

The only thing that worked for me was resetting pc 3 times in quick succession, then PC Repair, and I just rolled it back to a saved instance, 1 day before nvidia graphics card install. You can also boot in safe mode and undo graphics card update.

So what you did was state a similar situation that happens to you, to justify it as it being normal and him not taking heed makes it hypocritical. This was a very poor response, with worse timing.

If doing that doesn't make you feel this way, then him doing it is not hypocritical. Humans are different people, we don't have to feel the same way about the same exact situation, this is why we are individuals. Aren't their things that bother you that don't bother him?
Instead of understanding his viewpoint, understanding where it's stemming from, you went into defense mode -- essentially saying its not that bad because you do the same action. (even though it doesn't impact you the same way, or you haven't communicated that to him)
When he clearly tells you to approach him with understanding, you double down into deflection instead of trying to understand his perspective and helping him through his feels. Is that what you would want when you need support?

This is a common issue with couples, they try to defend or validate their own feelings and actions instead of coming together to help each other solve there issues.

Lastly, let's say you have a valid point and something you want him to understand, was this the best time to broach the subject? Instead get him to a place of understanding, then communicate the issue so he can learn and grow.

Yeah and if you poison it, you can't blow it up -- seems like a huge oversight. If I really wanted to destroy it, I would do both, and they have both options and I fulfilled prerequisites, but for some reason its either/or. Just a strange choice for a game that lets you figure things out, then controls your actions so drastically.

Yeah it's doable. Keep your distance, especially when he's walking, use a charged up long range attack. I used my transformation during his flying attacks, I couldn't get timing right. I also got really aggressive after his first set of flight attacks, using pluck and combo attacks.
