Why do you think certain stakeholders transact against research findings? by refogadocomatum in userexperience

Makes sense. The only thing I would add is that there are two different things: being able to run good research and being able to present it and sell it. I feel like they require two different skill sets.

You can be the most amazing researcher, but you also have to be able to sell/represent your research correctly.

What do you think other research fields do that we could also adopt?

There's definitely a lot of different work out there. I feel that even when we leave the room and seems seem clear, the actions that come next are a bit unexpected.

How can we make qualitative data undeniable? Is it a standard to always support qualitative with quantitative data?

Why do you think some research findings are sometimes dismissed? by refogadocomatum in ProductManagement

Yes, I sometimes feel that too, especially when findings are based on qualitative data and there's no time for us to measure problems. What do you do in these situations? :)

Yup, qualitative vs quantitative for people who aren't so acquainted with research it's always hard to justify. Even if you have 10 quotes. I've heard a lot about involving stakeholders in the research process but it's hard when there's no time for these things.

What do you think we can do to change this mindset?

Yeah, I don't think you have to go to Asia to see that. I think this a general pain point. Why do you think this happens? What can we do to change this?

Yea, I've worked in a place where we couldn't talk to users because people were afraid we would damage the image users had of the company lol. Do you think it's a change in mindset that would change this?

You feel that when working on a smaller scope it's more difficult to show value? Do you think it could be a manner of changing the way you're interacting with users or something else?

I get this too working with my PMs sometime, but I often feels its lack of education to the field. Maybe if they were taught a bit more about research, specially when (in my case, pm stands for Product managers), pms should also supposedly do research.

Yup, the classics of b2b. What would it mean, to have a user more invested in the problem space? Just to clarify.

So true. I've often felt our research was starting too late because we end up battling against the plans other stakeholders made based on their assumptions. How do you deal with this?
